Why couldn't Duke lose? That would've been the coolest.

Clearly the fix was in. At least coach k gave the opponent some credit (at least from what I saw) and didn't do his whole, 'we played terrible, we couldn't do this, we couldn't do that. oh... what do you mean someone could beat us? preposterous." bit that he tends to when they lose. Hmmm.... I guess that's why, they didn't lose. Bastards. He will do when they do loose.

Coach K knew better. The other coach had 25 years of D-I experience, and is widely known for his skillz.

Butler is good, they should have been higher than a 7 seed. And Drake is overated, they should have been lower than a 5 seed.
I dont know about you but im excited to watch those 2 13 vs 12 matchups tommorrow!

Anyone know any good hotels in Detoit?

Not in Detoit, is that near Taiwan?
There should be some good motel 6's near Detroit though.

Detoit? No wonder I couldn't find any.

I would stay out of the bad areas of Detroit... mainly that would include Detroit, but I think that would definitely include motel 6's in Detroit.

When we were kids our parents thought it would be ok to stay in a motel 6 near O'Hare in Chicago. Good thing it was dark when we got there, because on the way out in the morning, I saw bullet holes in the side of the building.
Seriously though, Detroit is a shite hole.

What's the deal with hockey?
The Badgers men made the NCAA hockey tournament. It's 16 teams split into 4 regional sites with seeds 1-4 at each site. Anyway, the Badgers are 15-16-7 overall but still made the tournament, which is fine I guess. They got a 3 seed in their regional so they face the 2 seed. OK, fine. The site of their first game? Madison, WI. Kohl Center. They get a home game against a higher seeded opponent. And if they win, the next game is in the Kohl Center too. How does this happen? It's one thing to give a top seed a close game, but to give the actual home ice advantage to the team that is third seeded out of four? How does this happen?
Here's the bracket.

I'm sure the site was decided before the Badgers were selected to play there.

I think Jon figured that, but was asking why they put them in that bracket then.

I believe it's a rule that if you are selected and the bracket happens to be at your house, you automatically go to that bracket. Almost positive.

Q: How is the field broken down?
A: The tournament is split into four regions — East, Northeast, West and Midwest — with four teams in each. The No. 1 seed plays the No. 4, and No. 2 plays No. 3 in the first round. The winners play each other in the Regional Final, with those four winners advancing to the Frozen Four.
Q: How are the regions aligned?
A: The regions are split into East, Northeast, West and Midwest. The four top-ranked teams in the tournament are awarded No. 1 seeds and can come from anywhere, in accordance with the PWR.
The remaining 12 teams are then "banded" into groups of four, corresponding to Seed Nos. 2-4. An attempt will first be made to keep teams closest to their home region, but there is an emphasis on avoiding first-round intra-conference matchups. Factors such as maximizing gate revenue, and limiting travel costs can also be taken into consideration. As a result, seeds can be flip-flop with same-numbered seeds of other regions.
Though not in its stated list of guidelines, the committee has made a concerted effort in the two years the 16-team field has existed to maintain a strict bracket. In other words, teams are given overall seed numbers, 1-16. The brackets are arranged 1-6-8-9, 2-15-7-10, 3-14-6-11, 4-13-5-12. Adjustments are then made for factors such as avoiding intra-conference matchups, and host schools playing in their home region. But otherwise, the committee has attempted to adhere to this philosophy and a strict reading of the PWR list. Whether that continues in the future, is anyone's guess.

18 points, 3:49 left, don't have the ball. The lead is 92% safe. If they get the ball back before the Badgers score it's game over....statistically.

There it is....awful game by the Badgers. If clanking shots off the front of the rim counted the Badgers would be like +20. I haven't looked or heard stats, but it seems like davidson is shooting 98% and Curry is Superman.

So it was as pathetic on TV as in person? Curry couldn't miss even though there was a hand in his face on almost every shot, Butch was notoriusly slow as usual, Hughes got hurt, and even though the Badgers had such a height advantage in side that they had one possession where Davidson fouled them 4 times in a row inside, Hughes is the only guy who can handle the ball well enought to pass the ball inside. Thank goodness for beer, I'm going to get trashed at the hotel now.
Jeremy - 1.21 Gigawatts!?!?

It was pretty pathetic. The badgers seemed resigned to losing the entire time.

Before Kansas even inbounded the ball, I was thinking, "If they can get it to Chalmers and he can even get a half decent shot off it's going in."
