We'll have a whole section for softball once we know what we'll need to have on there.
We should get together at some point. Jon and I have a practice for our other team at 3:30 on Sunday (which I just found out and he doesnt know about) Maybe b4 or after that. Becky graduates Saturday (along with some of the other ppl??) So it'll have to be sunday or monday? I guess I dont know what's happening Saturday. Sunday is mothers day, I dont know how that effects people.

Cerrect Speeling is fer suckars.
We should all get their early (certainly always be at least 15 minutes early because we have to decide on a lineup and you warm up on your own time).
Maybe we should all be there 8:30ish tomorrow?

Our game is at 9:00 tomorrow????? It would be nice to have a schedule...
We need a line up and we need to know who's playing what (which I kind of think I know), but pitcher is potentially up in the air. Who's good at pitcher?

You're right, guest, we do need a lineup. Also bats and gloves and a ball. Good for us, we don't need any of these things until gametime. Which is 9pm, as your roommate could tell you. Someone make sure Becky and her friends know also.

If someone sets up a webcam or something, I'll offer to manage the team and keep stats. Alternatively, you could enter the stats and I could manage the game based purely on that. That might be more interesting.

Now that the season is far from its infancy, and on the day before the biggest game in ECESL (Eau Claire European Softball League) history, it seems many of the same questions remain for the darlings of the association, nutcan.com (dotcom).
Who is good at pitcher? Did "The Hammer" get sold accidentally in the family garage sale? These are the questions that must be answered before the "Canners" hit University Field number two tomorrow evening.
Matching up against the internet hangout homies is a still very bitter Fatboy's squad. Losing last weeks match up in the bottom of the seventh inning, the "Fatboys" still taste the acidic sting of defeat. Spurned on by a really non-existent rivalry, the "boys" feel little empathy for the caryopsis crew.
"Screw those guys." said one Fatboy. "If they can't get the ball to the plate then that's their own fault."
Said another boy, "Dude, bum me a cig."
Those factors and the shear pressure of a game of this magnitude, leaves little doubt tomorrow nights game is one the most highly anticipated in recent memory.
So stock up on "drinks to regenerate your mana", grab yourself some "stacks of food from the vendors", and hit the University fields tomorrow night. At the very least you might learn something about a blowout.

The whole game sucked for me. I usually play first. Our team just feels the need to be-little their own players. Our pitcher, who finally showed up this week, was hammered. No team chemistry. My only complaint on the game itself was the infield fly. We couldn't get the bats going either. I am really sick of our team and it's philosophy. I'll agree your argument of the whole let's just have fun thing is quite valid for me tonight. You are who you hang out with. That scares me.

By the way I was going to photoshop "Nutcan Defeats Fatboys" onto:

but then I didn't have photoshop on this computer. Then I lost the will.
(Also I couldn't decide to photoshop that, or if I should have it say 'Fatboys defeats Nutcan,' but that might have been too much of a 'meta' joke)
Maybe I can get some laughs with just spelling out the idea and not putting forth the effort.

There was a high pop up when we had bases loaded and I was on second. Had she dropped it she was 2 feet from second and could have stepped on it and thrown to first, and he didn't call it then either.
(Also I was safe at first by a mile on a play he called me out on.)

Also infield fly applies to a routine fly that would lead to an 'automatic' double play, if "dropped". It doesn't apply to any ball that just doesn't hit the ground in the infield.

But, doesn't the fact that you got a double play apply then.
Jeremy - 9287 Posts
06/26/2007 @ 11:11:35 PM
It wasn't a routine catch, really it's a fairly unused rule in the league unless the ball is pretty high and right at someone. Also, as I said, you guys had a "classic" fly rule scenario, and he didn't call it.
It's a judgment call and perhaps he could have called it, but the fact that "damned if you do, damned if you don't" applied after the fact doesn't necessarily mean it should have been called, if that makes any sense.
Also, I looked up the infield fly rule, did you guys know you still have to tag up if the ball is caught?

Also, just to put it on the table, obviously in hindsight you guys would have wanted the fly rule. However had he called it and it played out differently, like lets say hits off the catchers' glove and rolled out to the middle of no where, instead of staying in front of her, you could have been just as mad that he did call infield fly.
I guess in essence what I'm saying is any non grounder that turns into a double play doesn't automatically mean the ump should have called infield fly.

In a re-cap of last nights European leauge action. the Fatboys batted through the order nearly two times scoring 15 runs in the first inning. The Campfire squad never got anything going. The game was called early, but both teams continued to play while having fun putting some of their less talented players in key positions. It was a great outing - and the young umpire we had was by far the best this year. Good times.

Since we are spending alot of time talking about the hall of fame, I thought you would appreciate a Fatboy's softball update. During the offseason the following has happened ...
1. The right fielder has been incarcerated off and on for the last eight months.
2. The left fielder stole four grand from work and went on the run.
3. The catcher subsequently divorced the left fielder.
4. The pitcher and outfielder just got a divorce.
5. That outfielder has been hammered ever since.
6. The back-up catcher and center fielder moved to Nebraska and then got divorced.
7. Our sub has gotten five driving after revocations since August.
8. The third baseman hangs out on nutcan all the time.
What a team. Glad I have a different job now.
