Bills 19 @ Texans 22

Texans have been playing the opening Saturday playoff game for the last ten years straight I think. That's probably right. Look it up. The thing is, this Texans team is crazy inconsistent. Sort of Vikingsesque in their ability to seem elite and then terrible. Apparently Will Fuller V has a lot to do with that, so if he is playing that will be especially good for them. Sounds like he won't be but they still should have enough..

Years from now when you're asked who it was who finally ended the Belichick Brady era, remember it was Ryan Tannehill (with some help from Henry and some other guys of course).
OK, so it might seem unlikely but it's been pointed out that former Patriots coaches have fared quite well recently when playing New England. Vrabel has previously beaten them, and he can do it again.

I'm gonna talk about Drew Brees for a bit here. Firstly, he might actually be underrated. Not in the sense that people don't think he's great, but in the sense that people are much more likely to rattle off his contemporaries' names before his when they're listing greats. The website fivethirtyeight looked at qb stats in the recently concluded "decade" of the 2010s and man, Brees's numbers were impressive. Now, you can't always just take an arbitrary time period like that because it will inevitably align well with some career primes but not others. Incidentally, it lines up almost perfectly with Aaron Rodgers's career so far. Meanwhile, Brees is about four years older and had already had some good years and started the decade on his age 31 season. Now, traditionally that wouldn't be his prime, but maybe it is, because his numbers this last decade eclipse all other QBs, Rodgers included. Now, maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like people are more likely to put Rodgers near the top of their list. But the numbers don't agree. Not by total performance, or peak season (2011 for each of them), based on fivethirtyeight's metrics. Brady has the most rings, and he and Rodgers each have a pair of MVPs this decade, but Brees put up the best numbers this last decade, and I'd argue, is the best among them. Source:

Now I'm gonna do a complete 180, sort of. This year, you could argue that Brees has again been excellent, but also, in a strange way, not terribly valuable. He missed five games this year and his team won all of them! Would it be a stretch to think that's approximately five more games than you would have expected them to win? Anyway, credit to Bridgewater and the other players and coaches, but also, what gives? Is Brees a system QB? No, he's not. But they obviously have a good system in place and the players and coaches know what they're doing.

These teams aren't that far apart. Oddly enough, the Seahawks are actually better on the road this year, so this feels even more like a win for them. But the Eagles have have something going. Seahawks are vulnerable.
