Packers 31 @ Browns 3 |
SarahLet's go Batman! Go get the record! Oh like 12 players are out for the Browns with the flu, what if by Sunday the whole team is sick?
MattI think the Browns are due. Cleveland 23 - Green Bay 20.
JeremyThe teams the Packers have beaten are a combined 4-13, just sayin'.
JonCleveland has better uniforms than Green Bay. There, I said it. |
Cardinals 24 @ Giants 17 |
SarahKurt Warner's warm welcome back to New York. Yea, I'm taking the easy way out.
MattBig sports night in New York.
JeremyThe Cardinals seem like a team that wins big or loses big.
JonDo you know what the record is for west coast teams when they travel to the east coast to play in games I only kind of care about? Me neither. |
Eagles 27 @ Commanders 17 |
SarahWhat can I say about this game? The Eagles LOST to the Raider last week and the Redskins LOST to the Chiefs. I casually heard that some important offensive line dude is out for the season for the Redskins, so I'll go with the Eagles.
MattI have almost no interest in this game.
JeremyWashington is bad, and the I can't help but think that whatever the Eagles did that lost them the game against the Raiders will be fixed.
JonMaybe the winner of this game should get to be the nation's capital until the next time they meet. It could be an ongoing thing. |

Anyone realize that the Eagles scored fewer points than the Phillies did last Sunday? I still think they'll win this game though.

Also, I noticed that I only picked 3 of the home teams this week. I wouldn't say I did that intentionally, but it does seem strange that that would be the case. |

We'll see how that works out for ya. I heard it's 80 in Florida right now. We're engulfed in a blizzard. Hurrah! |

History lesson. This exclamation dates back at least to the Civil War. It shows up in a number of contexts from that time. |

According to Wikipedia, it dates back to at least Shakespeare's time, and I was using the North American version, which is where I'm from, so no need to correct me. |

Sarah was right about Huzzah being dated back in Shakespearean time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huzzah and also right about the north American version "hurrah" hur·rah (h-rä, -rô, h-) also hoo·ray or hur·ray (-r) interj. Used as an exclamation of pleasure, approval, elation, or victory. n. 1. A shout of "hurrah." 2. It's hard to say whether or not the Vikings "deserved" to win or lose (or the Steelers for that matter), but that is probably one of the worst ways to lose a game. They had multiple opportunities to tie or go ahead, and they weren't exactly being stupid with play calling or anything. Favre's fumble may have been avoidable, but the pocket collapsed around him and he probably never saw the guy that knocked the ball away (and it wasn't like he was necessarily being careless with the football necessarily). The interception should go on Chester Taylor's stats, because that was a perfectly thrown screen pass that he short-armed. All-in-all, while I'm glad the Vikings lost since now the Packers are just 1.5 games back, I actually felt a little sympathy for the Vikings after that one. But then I stopped. |

Awful umpiring by umps this year in the playoffs, yes? What's up with that? Unacceptable. I thought he was on the base so therefore he must be? Are you freakin kidding me?!?!??!? On another note... C'mon Steelers, let's goMatt

The Bad: The Vikings have yet to play a complete game. They show flashes of awesome, but then seem to get bogged down in "let's not lose this" playcalling. The Good: The Vikings have yet to play a complete game, and are 6-0 and averaging 31.5 ppg. I realized that my mindset had changed when I got home and read all the "Favre comeback drive" stuff, and was sort of surprised. I realized that I didn't actually consider that final drive as anything spectacular, because I expected them to score. I wouldn't have felt like that last year.
Jon
Pittsburgh won the Super Bowl last year and they're 4-2 this year. I'm still not sure they're that good though. Is that wrong?
