49ers 24 @ Packers 30 |
MattThe Packers looked good against the Cowboys last week, but I say they return to sucking it up this week.
SarahThey were promoting a replay of the The Catch II game on the NFL Network. It still stings after all this time. Maybe it's time to move forward... I'm happy the Packers won last week (I know not many of you believe that) but it wasn't quite the thrill that a win against the Cowboys normally brings. This season has been such a let down. Hey, maybe though that's the start of them turning it around and I should get my hopes up as high as the sky.
JeremyThe 49ers are supposed to be a slightly above average team, but they looked god awful against the Bears, despite getting 5 picks.
JonSingletary will sack Aaron Rodgers. Twice. |
Seahawks 9 @ Vikings 35 |
MattI feel pretty confident about this one.
SarahRemember that national game a few years back (more like 5 or 6 or 7 years ago) when the Seahawks spanked the Vikings? Those were some good times.
JeremyPoison pills! | |
JonEveryone should take a moment to remember the best draft hat of 2009. |
Eagles 24 @ Bears 20 |
MattI don't like them, but I'll take the Eagles.
SarahWho's going to suck least? It's really a toss up.
JeremyOh Cutler...I was upset when the Bears landed you, but thank God they did, at least this year.
JonWhat would an eagle fighting a bear really look like? Who would win? Don't rush your answer. There are lots of things to consider. |
Titans 20 @ Texans 17 |
MattAlmost the same, but doubly different.
SarahThis is the Monday night game? Do they even try to give us good games anymore? HIMYM time!
Jeremy[Dismiss] | |
JonA lot of interesting players in this game. |

Sarah Remember that national game a few years back (more like 5 or 6 or 7 years ago) when the Seahawks spanked the Vikings? Those were some good times I had forgotten about that. The last time they played the Vikings won 31 - 13. In 2003 the Vikings beat them 34 to 7. The game you're talking about was in 2002 and was more of a fluke than anything. It was a 17 to 10 game when Alexander took a pass 80 yards. The subsequent kickoff was fumbled and the Seahawks quickly scored. The subsequent kickoff was fumbled and the Seahawks quickly scored, again. Then, 2 plays after actually holding onto a kickoff Culpepper threw a pick that was returned for a TD. All totaled the Seahawks put up 28 points in 1:58. Outside of their mistakes the Vikings only lost by 3, so I'm not sure "spanked" is the proper word, so much as it was a just a debacle that the Seahawks had little to do with. |

I remember when the 49ers-Packers was a big deal. Back when the NFC ruled the league, the Cowboys, Packers, and 49ers were the elite teams in the NFL. Between the 3 teams, they won 5 Super Bowls in a row, and would have been a 6th if the Packers would have beaten the Broncos. Oh how things have changed. And what's funny is that it doesn't even seem like that long ago. |

If I remember correctly, the 49ers and Cowboys met 3 straight years in the NFC title game and people refferred to it as "The Real Super Bowl". The Packers seemed to peak as the 49ers and Cowboys were fading. I think when the Broncos beat the Pack it was the first AFC SB win in a while and since then the AFC had been the better confrence. |

You do remember correctly. Although, it's hard to say that the 49ers were fading when the Packers got good, because the Packers beat the 49ers in the 1997 NFC championship game when the Packers ended up losing to the Broncos; in other words, the 49ers played in 3 straight, then missed the NFC championship game in 96, and then played in it again in 97. All told, between 1992 and 1997, the Cowboys played in 4 straight NFC title games, the 49ers played in 4, and the Packers played in 3. On another related note, Since the 1996 Wild Card Playoff game, the Packers have beaten the 49ers 10 of the last 11 times they have met. The only game the Packers lost was the OWENS OWENS OWENS game, in which Rice slipped a $20 in the refs pocket not to call his fumble a fumble. |

Sarah *Roar* The Wildcat is comin' to North Carolina, so watch out everybody! Maybe I'll watch a bit of this in a Las Vegas sports bar or somethin'. In other words, the team with the Wildcat offense is playing the team named for a wild cat. Worlds collide! |

I don't inadvertently say anything; I say what I mean. What I meant was that the 49ers didn't necessarily start being terrible at this point, since they did indeed make it back to the NFC champsionship game after their run of previous title games. nice one sarah on changing your fav team icon. Pack is going to win this easily, and im hoping the vikings have a bad day but I wont hold my breath. and btw sarah as far as percentage of picks u have a 0.002% lead over me lol. You are in first, im in second. lol. Ill bet my left nut tho that the lions win, and the bears lose. :) Just realized Vince Young is QB of the titans so i better go change my pick.. lol.. |

As Jon, correctly pointed out alot of intresting players are in this game. This game is going to be a close one, havent you seen ESPN? I mean if your going to give commentary on your page about games, try not to dismiss or blow off games that are going to be great games. For what reason? Idk. Just felt like commenting on that lol |

With all the talk about picks stats, I took a look at mine again for the first time in a while. Even though the numbers will all change in a matter of hours, I wanna share what I found. At this moment, I'm actually one game below .500 when it comes to picking packers games over the course of these 7 and a half years. Almost makes me want to cheer for them this week. The team I'm best at picking? Pittsburgh Steelers. Makes sense. Second best at picking? The Seattle Seahawks. That completely surprises me. I get why the steelers, patriots, and raiders are 1st, 3rd, and 4th highest for accuracy, but Seattle at number 2? I barely remember they exist most weeks. Maybe it's the hat, I'm not sure. Also, Jeremy and I have the same accuracy on the steelers. Though, he actually picks at least one other team more accurately than that, but I don't remember. It's not the Seahawks though. I think it's the Lions actually. Which, again, makes sense. The team, other than the Packers that I'm closest to .500 on? Denver. Which totally makes sense to me. I haven't been able to figure them out for a while. |

I made my picks on Monday before I went on vacation, so it'll be interesting to see how well they hold up. Already regretting my Lions pick. Poor Lions, getting beaten up by a horrible team. The day's still early though, if they were any other team, they might be able to make a comeback. |

Jon Wrote - Today @ 04:37:04 AM Hey Sarah, you and I are tied all time. Which kind of sucks cause I had a nine game lead at the beginning of the season. Still, kind of cool. I can't compete for all-time wins, but I have the highest winning percentage for anyone who has made over 900 picks! |

*Roar* The Wildcat is comin' to North Carolina, so watch out everybody! Maybe I'll watch a bit of this in a Las Vegas sports bar or somethin'.Jeremy
Who cares, we'll be in Vegas.Jon
Really intriguing matchup. With Brown, I'd probably easily pick Miami. But I'm not so sure without him. He's kind of the main offensive weapon. At least that's my understanding. Ricky Williams is a good backup, but as a starter we don't know. And since their offense is somewhat unconventional, can he really step right in for Brown? I can tell you one thing, I wouldn't expect him to pass. Granted, Ronnie Brown doesn't throw a ton (only six times all year) but the option is there when he's in the game. I read an interview with Williams where I think he said he doesn't even want to throw the ball. I really don't expect much from Carolina from week to week. They are probably as hit-and-miss as they come. But they have their main players healthy and they're at home. I would almost be surprised if this game didn't somehow surprise me though.
