Chargers 17 @ Vikings 35 |
JeremyThis one could get ugly. The Chargers seemed to have found their stride.
MattFor some reason, this game seems weirder than the Padres playing the Twins.
SarahGo Chargers! Vikings fans need to lighten up.
JonSometimes teams win games. |
Ravens 7 @ Steelers 38 |
JeremyThe Ravens are a bunch of thugs. Everytime I watch them play a game it's cheap shop here, late hit here, unnecessary hit there. Thugs, I tells ya. Though I guess since football is a "mans" sport we're all supposed to pretend this is a good thing because it indicates "toughness."
MattWillis McGahee and Hines Ward for co-MVP!!!!!!
SarahThe Steelers are playoff bound, however are not playing in the Colts-Patriots match-up, so the rest of the world doesn't care.
JonWho likes the Baltimore Ravens? Anyone? |

4 years ago, Favre had a chance to beat the Chiefs which would have given him this same feat. In that game, Ahman Green Fumbled late in the 4th qtr and Eddie Kennison scored about a 60 yard touchdown in overtime. He should get it this time. And to be honest, the Chiefs game should be the most winnable of all the games the Packers have played this season. I picked the Colts mainly because they are the home team. Also, I don't think the I picked the Chargers over the Vikings for the same reason I picked the Chargers over the Packers a few weeks ago. (I can respect a guy for picking against his team) |

I could get onboard with that. What's the worst that could happen? I could go out there and take a knee on any passing plays and I would be virtually as effective as anyone has been so far. Edit: For anyone that doesn't feel like registering the article is about Jeff George's interest in being a Viking, not the other way around. Or, not yet at least. |

I say Packers win against the cheifs.... althought i have quite a bit of doubt in my bret favre....cowboys eagles.... the true test of the cowboys to see wether they truly have gotten better since last year...... if they win they earn my respect if they dont they can be refferred to as the cowgirls like i always do. I say Colts are going to beat the patriots at home because manning and the colts are on a mission to say " We are defending super Bowl Champs and you wont beat us.... you watch they will win....=] |

Packers will lose with a upset to the chiefs for the chiefs have a good record with priest holmes back. Now they can establish the running game and the packers will have a hard time stopping with the run. |

Priest Holmes hasn't played since 2004(?) I admit the Packers will have a hard time beating the Chiefs at KC, but I dont think it will be because of Holmes. |

I like Romo, he's funny, but I doubt he'll be the best QB ever. He certainly didn't get Peyton Manning money. I really don't like the Cowboys, so if they want to lose a few that'd be fine, and if we can beat them on the 29th, that would be great! The Vikings-Cowboys game was really close, so I don't think the Cowboys are even that great in all honesty. Plus, they almost lost to the Bills as well.

i've been simpathetic to the Cowboys since Emmit left. With Emmit, they were my favorite team. Romo might be good, but you're right- he's not making Peyton money. 6 years for 31 is great... Oh, and for the record? I wish I was "only a teenager" again. |

man its almost gameday.... im going to get my cheesehead out on sunday mourning and my dads gunna make some bacon eggs and hashbrowns.... and we are going to watch NFL Today and watch how everyone is going to pick the packers to upset the cheifs. I am confident packers will win but i have those doubts still... i really am pulling for them eagles....but it sucks for me and my dad cause the packers and cowboys game on the 29 of this month is only on the NFL Network....so we probably going to go to buffalo wild wings and watch the game there.... but we probabaly going to get kicked out cause down here in texas they arent to friendly to the packer type.. Well i meant freedoms as in choosing ur picks and keeping track of ur wins and losses.... being able to post withought having to fill out 5 forms........ like i said i got u bookmarked this is one of my fav sites---------talk to u guys tommmorw |

Make sure your logged in, if your not your post will be recognized as a (Guest) post. I really like this site too, the people are weirdly cool, and the weekly pick 'em is pretty sweet. They have a great fantasy league too, but some chick cheats all the time so it's a run for second. Also it's quite obvious this site needs some serious upgrades. Since they don't advertise feel free to make a donation to Jeremy the site administrator. He seems pretty cool but sucks at softball. I am 27th generation nutcan, after this week that officially makes me a part of the golden years.

On NFL countdown, they were talking about how the Patriots could trade their 2008 1st round pick away to someone since they wouldn't be able to use it anyway due to their punishment from spygate. Plus, they have the 49ers' 1st round draft pick which will likely be a top 5 pick. Remind me again how they are being punished by the league as a team? |

so, um what were we thinking? Let's just make this game interesting, even though we've totally controlled their offense by handing them 7 points with 18 seconds left in the half to give them the lead going into halftime?????? not cool! |

T Jack just went down, B. Bollinger time, it looks like the Chargers have been suckin' it up. Although I did see the Vikings get lucky by getting some phantom offensive pass interference (or something like that) called against the Chargers. The Vikings, could they get any luckier? |

Chris Collinsworth analyzed the Greg Jennings 60 yard touchdown reception like this: Teams are throwing the Tampa-2 defense at the Packers because the Packers don't have much of a running game. The Tampa-2 defense is designed to stop plays like that 60 yard touchdown pass. What it comes down to is this, while the Packers have only played one team with a winning record so far, nothing they are doing seems to be doing anything to stop Favre. I hope they can continue this trend as the weather gets cold. Adrian Peterson is a stud, no doubt about it. I feel a little ashamed saying this, but I'm actually excited about how good he can be, considering that he appears to be way better than that Reggie Bush character with none of the hype to speak of. I just hope he can do for the Vikings what Barry Sanders did for the Lions: 10 years of mediocrity followed by 5 more years of absolute embarrasment. |

lol Isn't Tampa 2 to prevent the long passes down the sideline? Meaning you can attack it in the middle, which is where Jennings went? |

According to Chris Collinsworth, that defense is always supposed to have help up the middle in the middle in the form of either a linebacker or another safety. What the Packers did was put Jennings in the spot where a Tight End usually would be. When Favre saw that the Chiefs still had the linebacker in man-to-man coverage on Jennings, he went with that option deep. The safeties, thinking they had help up the middle, stayed wider than normal, not realizing that the receiver had just burned the linebacker. By the time anyone realized this, it was too late. |

well im a pretty happy man..... i was 10-2 until those dang cowgirls decided to beat the eagles.... but i was really dissapointed in Dnovan Mcnabb...but in the end i mean i guess the cowboys are a little better than last year....so now im 10-3 and it appears i am the only soul on this whole website who said Ravens...... wow u guys lol...... i am really pulling for thre ravens cause if they win that means i have this weeks best record and that my friends is a accomplishment. Packers playing the vikings at home next week...... very worried.... i really hope they can pull it off...but mostly i hope its on T.V. cause they were suppose to show the game instead they showed the Panthers v Titans.... in which i might add was not worth watching.....anyways ill see u all tomorrow buh bye!!!! |

Some thoughts from yesterday: 1) I went into the game expecting to lose big, but thought to myself, "At least I can say I got to see LT play" 2) Despite playing a good team poorly on all sides of the ball the Vikings were playing a tied game, and looking to go up 3 heading into the locker room for halftime. The field goal was short and we all know what happened then. What they didn't really cover on the sportscenters of the world was the Vikings feeble attempt to do anything to stop the 109 yard return. It was like they weren't even aware you were allowed to do that. 3) Following an incredible 17 yard run (that didn't even go for a TD) when Adrian Peterson had "only" probably 50 yards I sent Jon the text "AP is ridiculous". Following halftime when he broke one 60 yards I sent the message "AP is fu**ing ridiculous." Ellequent? No. Really though, there's nothing else to say about him. Even the highlights don't do him justice because his 5 yard runs are sometimes as unbelievable as his 60 yarders. Little did I know he was just getting warmed up. 4) AP's second half yardage (253?) would put him 7th on the single game rushing yardage list. 5) I really bums me out how the Vikings are mediocre quarterbacking away from being a pretty good team. Before the season the fans clamored to get someone ahead of Brooks Bollinger. Now the bar has been set so low Brooks looks like Joe Montana out there by virtue of being able to throw a pass within 5 yards of a receiver. 6) Speaking of which, Philip Rivers was god awful. 7) What does it say about me that I got to see history (twice really), my team won a game I never would have thought they'd win...big, I'm getting to watch a Viking, that dare I say, looks even more like a man amongst boys than Moss did, and all I could think about was how pissed I was the Packers won again? Should I get help at some point? 8)LT who? 9) I've picked against the Vikings 2 times in the history of Nutcan/Page 3. During that stretch the Vikings have probably lost 2 games for every one they've won. I'm 1-1 picking against them. 10)Seriously, Adrian Peterson is fu**ing ridiculous. |

Really though, as easily as they could have 2-3 more losses, the Packers could be undefeated. That's a scary thought. I see 4 "losable" games in their future though. (Starting with next week.) |

Yeah, well that's part of what I was talking about elsewhere on the site. The Packers are unquestionably for real, right out of the shoot. The Lions could go onto win the Superbowl and people would be wondering if they ever were that good and would be calling it a "Cinderella Story." Not that the Lions shouldn't be questioned, they have 1 more loss than the Packers and have gotten beaten up pretty good in their losses, it's just that every team "coming from no where" is normally questioned until they string 3-4 winning seasons together.

The Packers are still kind of referred to as Cinderellas, although not in so many words necessarily. I still look back at their schedule and only still see about 2 or 3 games to this point where I would have unbiasedly picked them to be the winner. No one could have predicted that their passing game would be as good as it has been. I really hope that they can find a way to keep this up and get to the Super Bowl (as some are now starting to say is possible) this year, because I think this all hinges on whether Brett Favre is the man under center. And I don't want to rely on "I hope he comes back next year". If they are going to pull off the impossible, they might as well do it now. Although to be completely honest, I still have my doubts about the rest of this season (the same doubts I had going into the season). Favre said after the game, "You can't doubt us. You can question us, but you can't doubt us." My doubts are probably just nervousness or something. The Packers are simply finding ways to win. Say what you will about officials or who they are playing or whatnot, they are flat out finding ways to win. Pretty soon they'll actually start playing good and we will all wonder how anyone will be able to stop them. Right? |

lol... reading all these posts...... a message for the chargers fans.... chargers were wayyyyy overconfident...... AP(Adrian Peterson) is a very good running back he will be the next ahman green.... u watch.... LT..... is a little over rated in my opinion..... everyone should be worried about the packers... and if ur not u have some mental issues cause look at this.... ahman green left.... packers are watch again? 7-1? they are tied with the cowboys for #1 slot for the NFC and they dont have a running game..... add Adrian Peterson, or Ahman green to this picture.... and what do we have here? a very very unstopable team....super bowl bound....The packers are really trying hard this year...... they are winning more than half of the games based on bret favre withought him they would be nothing...... their passing game accounts for 90% of their yards.....but yet..... the secondary cannot stop Bret Favre.... i think my opinion Packers only Barriers.... lions, Cowboys..... only barriers..... This month is going to determine wether the packers are super bowl bound or they have a few lucky strokes....A prediction for all of u..... packers v cowboys NFC CHampionship.....packers go to the super bowl........ they win it...... Favre retires..... end of story....Packers have deserved every single win including the one in denver..... i mean it wasent dumb luck..... only a very talented QB who knows his skills would throw a long pass in Overtime to win the game...I am a proud packer fan and i will take any bet for the packers call me foolish or call me loyal.....Viva la Favre =] |

It's usually not a cakewalk to the Super Bowl, but who else is any good in the NFC? At this point I'd say Dallas and New York are the biggest obstacles and if current trends continue Green Bay would only face one of the two at most in the playoffs. Besides that there's Detroit I guess, and um...New Orleans if they've decided their 8 game preseason is over? You can argue about who would be favored in any one of those matchups but even if Green Bay was the underdog it wouldn't be by much. |

Ahman Green and the Texans are ranked 27th in rushing. Yes the Packers would be better with Adrian Peterson, but the Vikings would be better with Peyton Manning and Randy Moss, what's your point? I think it's also sort of insulting to insinuate the Packers are Brett Favre and no one else. They have the 11th ranked defense and are #8 in points given up. Last I checked Favre doesn't play defense, though I suppose they could all be superpowered by his aura. Edit: Also, you should be able to make your picks whenever you want. We already have another new picker. |

the packers are good because of their DEFENSE..not brett favre, he isnt single handly winning these games. Greg Jennings is a great receiver and I don't know why oposing dbacks let him get behind them. The pack have caught a lot of breaks this season, but they probably would be just as good even if brett favre had retired because of their D. |

Few comments on some of the remarks of the day. I think we need to give Favre some credit or > some credit. A-Rod would not have us at a 7-1 record. However, I hate that everyone outside of WI refuses to acknowledge that we have a team besides Favre. Adrian Peterson is better than Ahman Green, I'm sorry. Loved Green when he was with the Packers, but let's be serious here. Adrian Peterson is more along the lines of an L.T. or maybe could even be a Barry Sanders. I think the Patriots have a running game, they just choose not to use it, the Packers just cannot run the ball. T.O. was a selfish, horrendous player and the Eagles could not deal with that crap anymore, there's no way they'd take him back. He was poison to that team, it's surprising that he hasn't turned on the Cowboys. The Pack have quite a few offensive weapons. Jennings has been superb, but Lee has done quite well and Driver is always reliable. Jones, while he's had a few dropped balls, is also doing really well. So, I'm hoping we can continue our success in the 2nd half, starting against the Vikings this week! |

Yeah, I'm not so sure they would be "just as good". I mean, record-wise, they would be looking at many fewer wins even if they dropped off their current production a tiny amount. Even speaking non-record wise I don't think they would be "just as good", but I doubt they would be 1-7 either. You know the Packers can't run, but you can't just go balls-to-the-wall after Favre either because he can burn you hitting his hot route. A young inexperienced QB would be more apt to freeze up and take a sack. |

Well , I don't think alot of people expected Green Bay to be 7-1 with Brett Favre. So What I am saying is that if Favre wasn't there, there wouldn't be a huge drop off. It isn't as if Brett Favre is carrying a bad team on his back. This team has alot of talent. It isnt fair to judge Aaron Rodgers because he has literally no playing experience, he was a good college QB thats why he was drafted in the first round. Favre is having an average season, but with another QB in there, they still would still have sucsess due to their defense and other players like Greg Jennings stepping up. Im not saying Favre is no good, just saying he isn't the main reason this Packers team is winning. |

Also, back to the Adrian Peterson history making thing, I don't know what the general experience was for everyone else, but our CBS feed switched away from the Vikings' game a play or two or three before Peterson broke the record in order to show the undefeateds' game already in progress. I can't really blame them though, and wasn't really mad at the time and only a little disappointed even now. Personally, while it would have been nice to see the actual record breaking moment, it's one of those accopmlishments that isn't really about the final yard as much as it is about the whole day he had. Not everyone feels that way, but that's how I see those types of things. Plus, I didn't even realize he was that close and wasn't even thinking about it anyway. Which is why I give CBS a break too. They probably should have realized it, but I don't really fault them if they didn't. I don't know one way or the other, but I suspect they might have not noticed since I don't remember any talk from the announcers or graphics about it. Maybe there were, I don't know. Maybe it seems odd, but I feel like if the people in charge actually noticed, but cut away anyway, it was a pretty crappy decision. But if it wasn't on their radar, it's not a big deal even though they, and other networks, should really pay closer attention. (Seriously, one of these days FOX is going to cut away from a playoff no-hitter to show a Dodge Trucks pre-game show for a west coast game.) Anyway, Matt made some comment when they cut away about how we might miss him getting 300. Even then, it didn't register with me that that would be a record. Although if you would have asked me what the record was, I probably could have guessed fairly close. It's one of those things where you know two things but you don't connect them in your mind. So on the ticker, when it said how many yards he got and that it was a record, I had a weird, "oh yeah" kind of moment. Anyway, the point is, silence is awesome. Wait that's not the point. I guess the point is that years from now, when Jeremy is telling his kids about the day Adrian Peterson rushed for 290-some yards, there will be two things that happen. One, his kids will say, "what's a yard?" (because we will have converted to the metric system). And two, they'll turn to me and say, "Uncle Jon, do you remember when he broke the record?" and I'll repeat most of this story in all the detail that I'm explaining it now, only they'll be asleep by the time I finally get around to the end of it. Which will be weird because they are in their 20's, so you'd think they'd be able to sit through one of my famous stories about the fun times of my youth, but they aren't able to. Still, we'll have had a good time talking about the way things were. |

jthompto Wrote - 11/06/2007 @ 06:01:11 PM the packers are good because of their DEFENSE..not brett favre, he isnt single handly winning these games. Greg Jennings is a great receiver and I don't know why oposing dbacks let him get behind them. The pack have caught a lot of breaks this season, but they probably would be just as good even if brett favre had retired because of their D. no offense dude that was the dumbest thing/talking out of ur a** i ever heard i mean honestly if it wasent for favre they wouldnt not have won the denver, kansas city, phildelphia, minnesota, and they would have proabably lost to the bears too.... so lol.... saying that withought favre they would be just as good hahahahahahaha..... favre i think is about 50% of it along with the wide recivers getting some of the chunk and 50% of it is there defense......lets not forget the OLine too.... but yes i see ur point.... but he is the main reason they have at least 4 wins.... Carlos44ec Wrote - 11/06/2007 @ 03:29:00 PM well, Brett is 6th in Packer rushing with a whole -3 yards. Guess they didn't include those. Plus, he's got the NFL record for the most INT returned for TDs. You KNOW this. now you guys are just being jerks...... its not very funny to me well and one day when ur talking to ur kids about bret favre.... about how his last season he took them to the super bowl and won it then retired.... i want you to remember what u said..... well see you later =] have a good day!!! |

For the record: Don't try and be rational re: sarah and A-Rod They really didn't make much of a deal about the lead up to Adrian's record. (And they had just been listing off the various team and NFL he broke up until that point. No one knew anything about it, in fact we were wondering why Adrian was running back out when the guy we sit next to, who listens to the radio while watching, told us he needs 3 yards. Then he broke it by so little that it took a while to be official. If he wasn't illegally tackled on that last long run (his second to last carry) he would have hit like 340 and had 4 td's. I don't know if it's creepy or endearing that Jon thinks he'll be talking to our kids 20+ years from now and that they'll call him "uncle". Carlos44ec is a Packer fan. For someone who so clearly worships at the alter of Brett Favre JFK has said "Bret" like 10 times now. |

Carlos is definitely a Packer fan. I do realize that you took my comment the wrong way- I wasn't talking about Bretts ACTUAL record of THROWING interceptions. I was getting into the spirit of the conversation where we were talking about rett being the Defense, as well as the offence. I meant that he has caught INTs for TDs on his own- and now realize that it was taken the wrong way by probably everyone. By the way, I figured out the JFK and intex part of your name, but what's the 10? JFK was assasinated in Dallas TX, but at 1230, and he died at 1. or am I reading too much into the name? |

The Warren Commission was a 10 month investigation. That's where the 10 comes form. I Win!!! |

The Warren Commission was a joke. but again, this has less to do with Week 9 of Football, and has more to do with PackOne's thread about who we all are, and how we came to Nutcan.... feel free to repost these, mythical web magic person! |

In fact, he is probably better off right now than most backups in the entire league. He has the skills, and now he has three years of understanding from Brett. You so need to get used to A-Rod, he is going to be around a long time. I'm okay with the cream of the worst for now. |

Packers 33 @ Chiefs 22
Jeremy
If Brett Favre beats them he will have beaten every team in the NFL. This already has happened, just last week, twice, to little to no fanfare. Expect the media to throw Favre a parade if it happens to him.Matt
I don't care.Sarah
This is going to be a very tough game, the Chiefs have a surprisingly good record. They weren't supposed to be a contender, yet here they are. Man, I am still getting over that win in Denver... here's hoping for another record.Jon
Away, after a Monday night game, underrated opponent. Green Bay can't win every game can they? No, really, can they?
