I'm going to fire up Madden 2005 and play Green Bay against San Diego on the hardest level. I'll play best 2 of 3 and keep you updated. Please also include picks on this game, as more people care about GB/SD than what reality has given us. Thanks for your time. |

Too bad New England's MLS team lost in the championship game or they could be working on a 4 sport sweep. Really though, a team that belongs to an entire region? No wonder they keep winning. If the Midwest grouped up to form one team I bet they would kick the New England Patriots faces in. If it wasn't below 0 here and I wasn't on call that weekend I probably wouldn't watch this game either. I guess I'm rooting for the Patriots because a loss is probably a bigger story than a win, so just finish off the rest of league and get it over with so we can move on. |

Yeah, that's really a shame. There must not have been a Minnesota based phenom that made his way to the Boston area to make their MLS team elite. |

Actually their best player, Taylor Twellman, was born in Minneapolis and apparently his father played for the Minnesota Kicks. So I don't know if that counts as based there or not... |

The fact of the matter is despite being the "feel good team" during the season, the Giants are at least as big of a "story" now. Not that the whole "story-line" thing is anything more than ridiculous nonsense people convince themselves means something. |

The giants beat both teams, granted we are not in the same division, but still, an NFC Championship loss on your home field hurts. If i were forced to root for a team (which I don't think would happen under any circumstances) I would pick the Patriots for that reason alone. Can I just say I'm tired of New York and Boston teams. Wouldn't it be great if they both lost? |

Scott Wrote - 01/21/2008 @ 06:10:35 PM a game that I'm sure most of America views as a disappointing matchup Aww that is cute. I know I hate it when the championship game ends up being a repeat of one of the best games, if not THE singularly best game, of the regular season. I also hate it when I miss the opportunity to hear two weeks of 8,000 stories per day on one member, albeit a legendary member, of a team that is decidedly not a one man team. And yes, I'm a bit of an anti-packer fan, and I'm beating a dead horse and I'm sure I wouldn't want to hear such a comment if I were a Packer fan, but I think it's fair to recognize there are great numbers of fans out there that get annoyed with Packers coverage like we all get annoyed of the Patriots, or Jessica Simpson on Sportscenter, or the Red Sox and Yankees, or Derek Jeter, or the 1990's Cowboys who, after all were America's team and everyone loved them right? I mean if we couldn't take two weeks of Jerome Bettis going to Detroit, what would a Packers Super Bowl really mean for the rest of the country? (Too soon?) |

In my opinion the better team for the NFC IS in the super bowl True the Giants have peaked at the best time of the season, but every super bowl team really has to do that. You are required to win several games in a row to get there after all. Maybe the Packers are more talented than the Giants, but the Giants outplayed and outcoached them by far, so I agree, the Giants are the best team in the NFC. I also think they serve as the NFCs best chance at taking down the Pats. |

I'm not sure if the Packers could have won necessarily, at least not based on how the Giants won. The Giants won because they blitzed the living daylights out of Tom Brady. The Packers would have most likely attempted to simply outscore the Patriots, and I have a feeling that would not have worked. The Pats just added themselves to the list of "Best Teams not to win the Super Bowl." Ha. Bellichick is a turd. I swear he ran out to mid field with 1 second left simply because he was pissed that the glory was not on him. Basically, he wanted to do anything to take the glory away from the Giants. |

He took this way too hard. Instead of saying "disappointed" 50 times, he should've quoted the infamous Denny. "They were who we thought they were!" Obviously he has no sense of humor. |

Well, to be fair to any losing coaches/players who are paraded out in front of camera minutes after their hopes and dreams are dashed....what do these reporters asking inane questions like "Did you think you would lose?" and "How do you feel right now?" expect the person to say? | ||

That's the "heave," but I know what you mean. I couldn't remember if the phrase was "Duck and Weave" or "Bob and Weave," the both seemed to be unequally unpopular on google, which made me wonder if they were common phrases at all. |

hmmm...the heave woah is good, but sort of leaves manning's side out. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/hashmarks/0-5-369/Moss--This-season-means-nothing-.html Click the link to read Randy Moss lash out at his coaches, whine about not getting the ball, then criticize his teammates. I don't see it myself, but the authors tell me if you put your "Hater" cap on, and squint real' tight at the in-between-the-lines stuff you can see something more than Praise for the giants, comments you'll have to take their word on, comments every other patriot has made (ie That the regular season doesn't mean much now) and obvious things that everyone could see and even Bill Simmons acknowledged. (The Pats inexplicably low intensity level.) |

Rally in the Valley is good, but that's more like the name of the game, not just the play. Super Bowl XXXI was nicknamed "The Big Bang in the Big Easy" because the game was full of big plays (touchdown passes of 81 and 54 yards, and a 99 yard kickoff return, and I'm sure the Patriots had a few big plays in that game as well). Rally in the Valley gets my vote for the nickname of this game. |

Giants 17 @ Patriots 14
Jeremy
I think we can all agree that what the sports world really needs is another big New York-Boston match-up.We might not hear it a lot this week, because it was so played out this week, but people are unoriginal, so who knows: How many people in the media made some sort of comment along the lines of "Who would have thought there'd be a Manning in the Championship round, and that it WOULDN'T be Peyton!?!" How many headlines, sub-headlines, or lead-in lines can a derivative of that appear in before every person who "thought" of it stops thinking they're Cleaver Dan?
We get it people, the Giants' kickers last name kind of sounds like "Times." The 30th person to make that pun in a national article didn't stop and go "Hmmm.....maybe I should pass on this lame joke that I'm copying from 10 other things written today. Maybe I should write an article about Burress and not another article about a guy who did everything humanly possible to lose the game for his team."
Matt
The Patriots are probably going to win, but the Giants have a shot at winning and I want them to win, so I'm picking them.Jon
I hope it's as good of a game as the previous time they played. I don't hate New England, but I don't want them to win. But how easily could the Giants actually make all those plays like they did last game? It's quite possible, but there's a chance it won't happen. But the Patriots have played that kind of game every single game this season. They're not always unstoppable, but they have played well enough every game. It's not a sure thing, but it's hard to think of them doing poorly.
