Jaguars 31 @ Steelers 29 |
JeremyThe Jaguars are the big band wagon team now. The Steelers have a few key injuries. I think that yellow pants are key in the wild card round.
MattQuestion: Assuming the draft picks stayed the same (but not necessarily other personnel), would the Vikings be a better team right now if Mike Tice was still the coach? Jacksonville 19 - Pittsburgh 12.
SarahI don't think the Steelers have been consistent enough to win a playoff game. But, the Jaguars have won once up in PA, so maybe they can't do it again.
JonWillie Parker is injured. That's going to be the difference. The Steelers can still throw the ball well, but they'll miss the run. |
Giants 24 @ Buccaneers 14 |
JeremyThe Giants just aren't that good. I have no idea how good Tampa is or isn't because I'm not sure I saw 5 seconds of Tampa football this year.
MattI think Manning and the Giants will have a good game. New York 25 - Tampa Bay 14.
SarahAll of these games are hard. But I think the Bucs are good, and the Giants might be drained from that Patriots game.
JonHas anyone here other than Scott seen one down of any Tampa Bay game this season? I couldn't tell you one thing about how they play. Is Keyshawn suiting up? Seriously, I don't know if I could know any less about a team, yet they're in the playoffs and they rested their guys basically the last two weeks. I'm sure they've been covered a bit, but maybe some of that time spent on Tony Romo's love life could have been spent talking about this team. I mean, I don't know, they seem a bit more relevant than half the crap all the shows spend their time on. |
Titans 6 @ Chargers 17 |
JeremyOnce again I find myself replaying the season and trying to think if I saw one live play from the Titans...I can't recall. I did, however, see the NFC East teams and the Patriots 234,983 times, so, at least the coverage is spread evenly. The Chargers are quite the 2 faced team. They can be great and pitiful without notice.
MattLike Trent Green, Philip Rivers is dead to me. I'm still taking the Chargers though. San Diego 32 - Tennessee 17.
SarahMaybe the Chargers can win a game, they have the talent. They just have to put it all together.
JonI've heard more than one person describe the Tennessee offense as the most basic offense being run. It's not that I doubt this, but how do they make the playoffs in that conference with such a simple offense? Is their defense even better than I think? Do they just run the offense well enough to be good despite it's simplicity? |

Also I'd like to point out my week 14 comment "Everything seems to be falling into place for the Vikes to make their annual run at being the best team to not make the playoffs, costing themselves about 12 spots in the draft in the process." It just never fails. Either be good or suck already!!! |

Redskins @ Seahawks Alex: Homefield advantage + XP = win Jaguars @ Steelers Alex: Homefield advantage + XP = loss, Jags are just better Giants @ Buccaneers Alex: Who does Tampa Bay even have? I'll pick the Giants, but Eli is about as unpredictable as they come and he could easily throw 3 TDs to the wrong team in this one. Titans @ Chargers Alex: I wasn't really paying much attention to week 17, but I did hear something about Vince being hurt again and being kind of a moody brood, so there's no way I'm picking them on the road. |

Titans @ Chargers PackOne: Jeff Fischer can get the most out of his players. However, in the playoffs one hundred percent may not be enough for the Titans. In a Nutshell:Chargers 24 - Titans 10 Jags @ Steelers PackOne: The Steelers are lucky to even be here. Their luck is about to run out. The Jaguars take it in a crowd quieting experience. In a Nutshell: Jags 20 - Steelers 10 Giants @ Bucs PackOne: The Bucs ride the arm of one of the most accurate quarterbacks this season. The Giants come out swinging after their performance last week, but, don't have enough left in the tank for a tough Tampa two defense. In a Nutshell: Bucs 24 - Giants 21 Skins @ Hawks PackOne: The Skins continue to ride the emotional wave for one more game. Is this the last game in Seattle for Mike? The best game of the week. In a Nutshell: Skins 17 - Hawks 13 |

Skins at Hawks Its tough to win in Seattle, even if the skins are on a roll. SEA wins 20-17. Jags at Pitt The Jags are just one of those scary teams, that can beat anybody even if its on the road. The poor field condition actually helps them and not the Steelers. Jags win 28-16 Giants at Bucs The Bucs are not very good and won a terrible division by default. Giants win 35-17 Titans at Bolts This game sucks. We should be seeing a great offensive shootout between the Browns and Chargers but thanks to the Colts tanking the last game and letting the Titans in, we have to watch this mess. Chargers win 35-10 |

Washington @ Seattle I am going to pick the skins on this one despite the fact i still think they are incapable of beating the seahawks... but i guess im thinking if they win maybe ill also get a win in there which will make me a very happy man. Lets continue the winning streak skins! I have spoken to alot of people and they are very afraid of the skins possible beating the cowboys and the packers but i think its just a false alarm.... win it by 4 points... Jacksonville @ Pittsburgh I think the jaguars are a really good team... i still think that no matter what though that packers could beat them. If i had to choose between the traveling jaguars or the Home steelers i would have to go with the Jaguars.. a close win they win it only by a field goal New York Giants @ Tampy Bay People underestimate the Buccaneers( if thats how u spell it) The Giants just squeezed in there with a couple of wins so i make my descion with Tampa Bay although i think Jthompto makes a very good point about the Bucs.. Tennesse @ San Deigo Vince Young is a little hurt... he will play but i bet that will affect his performance. I say the Chargers win it by 10..... |

It's all the talk around Tampa how the NFC south is such a tough division because no NFC south team has ever gone undefeated within the division. I've watched the Bucs a fair amount this year, and really, they are not as good as their record indicates. They play in a horrible division (no players from the NFC south selected to Pro Bowl). While they have found ways to win some games, Jeff Garcia is a pretty good field general, and their defense is still pretty solid (although a bit aging), they are just not that good. The Giants, while banged up, played in a much tougher division, and are coming off what I would consider a confidence boosting game. Also, the Bucs have basically taken the last 3 weeks off, and that usually doesn't bode well for most teams. |

Brady won the MVP award with 49 of the 50 votes. Favre only got 1 vote. That's bunk. Brady's on an all-star team, if he didn't have the season he had, then they should've started Cassell. Favre had an awesome year and broke like every record there ever was. My only consolation is that the last 8 winners have all lost in the playoffs... |

Oh please. Favre is 4th in yards behind Brady, Romo, and Brees. 4th in completion percentage Behind Brady, Pennington, and Brees. Tied with 3 players for 6th in TD's behind or tied with Brady, Romo, and Brees. In fact he's 22 tds behind Brady while having only 28 himself. 22 TD's would be good for 12th place overall in the NFL and 7th in the NFC. Favre has the 9th most INTs with 15. Romo had 20, Brees had 18, Brady had 8. He is 6th in passer rating behind Romo and 10+ points behind Brady. If you looked at the numbers objectively you could make a case that Favre barely made the NFC probowl let alone NFL MVP. (Romo, Brees, and Hasselbeck who has about 150 less yards, but 3 fewer INTs) I'm not saying you'd win your case, but the fact that you could make it at all says something. It had to be Brady, and if not him then Randy Moss. The only thing that's "bunk" is that Deana Favre apparently gets to cast a vote. |

Is anyone else terrified of playing Seattle next week? Not because they're the better team, but because it's Holmgren? Let's hope it ends the same way it did last time we played them in the playoffs. But this time, let's wrap it up in regulation time. |

Not at all. Their defense looked really good at times today, but they're still probably not as good as NYG or TB. And if the weather is bad it hurts Seattle's offense as much as Green Bay's. This is the best case scenario for the Packers in my mind.

Well, his backhanded compliment was about the amount of free time I must have done all these picks, which is why I pointed out we all picked the same. Though I used to do it all by hand (Matt, Jon, and Sarah used to email me the picks and I'd make a page) All in all though I'd say of all the time I've put into this website actually making those picks is probably .005% of it. |

Commanders 14 @ Seahawks 35
Jeremy
Seriously, I'm not sure I saw 5 minutes of Seahawks football all season.Matt
I miss Steve Spurrier (The Official Coach of Page 3). Seattle 44 - Washington 33.Sarah
I believe the Redskins have been playing with a lot of heart the past few weeks, but I think the Seahawks have snuck under the radar. Plus, if they switch to Jason Campbell, that might throw them off.Jon
Seattle isn't totally impressive, but they are a good home team and I like Hasselbeck in this one.
