Bengals 13 @ 49ers 20 |
JeremyIt's the battle of the disappointments. Just remember that the 49ers' opponent may as well be the Patriots. | |
MattSuper Bowl XXIII (Bengals vs. 49ers) is the 2nd earliest Super Bowl that I have memories of (the Redskins/Broncos matchup the year before being the first). More than just the game, I remember that Jon and I (and our sister too, I think) went with our Uncle Mark off on some adventure in the country surrounding Eau Claire. My other Uncle and some of our cousins may have been along as well, but I can't remember. I also don't remember what we did that day, but the chances are good that the truck got stuck in the mud or snow, as that seemed to happen about every other time we were with him. The one thing I do remember is that we saw an eagle while driving home, which was pretty cool as an 8 yr. old. Later that night, when we got home, Jon, my sister and I played Monopoly with our Mom while watching the game. We all wanted the Bengals. As a side note, this is the game where Bengals DT Tim Krumrie's leg was shattered in a pretty nasty injury. This is important because Krumrie grew up in Mondovi, WI about 20-30 miles from the Nutcan HQ. Sometime after this game, I was at the eye doctor's when my Mom told me that the guy sitting a few seats from us in the waiting room was Tim Krumrie (the giant scar down his leg tipped my Mom off). While that day sucked because I had to get glasses, I did get his autograph on the envelope of those cheap plastic sunglasses they give you when they dilate your eyes, so I had that going for me. | |
SarahReally? | |
JonSan Francisco is terrible. |
Packers 33 @ Rams 14 |
JeremyHow funny would it be if the Packers lost this? They better watch out though, because the Rams are a lot better than the usual dismal recorded team. I've heard a lot of advertisements for bus trips to St. Louis, so expect to see a fair number of Packer fans there, and expect a big deal to be made over this fact. | |
MattI feel an upset brewing, Rams by 12. | |
SarahThis could be a dangerous game. I'm just saying. | |
JonSt. Louis Snicker Swirl! |
Commanders 22 @ Giants 10 |
JeremyIf the Vikings don't make the playoffs I hope the Redskins do. | |
MattIn Super Bowl XXI the Giants beat the Broncos. A year later, in Super Bowl XXII, the Redskins also beat the Broncos. Three years later, in Super Bowl XXV the Giants beat the Bills. The next year, in Super Bowl XXVI, the Redskins also beat the Bill. Coincidence, yes, but interesting none the less. | |
SarahHow many games are we talking about here? Too many! | |
JonThe Giants just need one thing to go right to make the playoffs. |
Bears 13 @ Vikings 20 |
JeremyThis one has me worried because the only thing the Vikings do more consistently than lose games they have to win is make backup quarterbacks look like superheros. | |
MattScrew A-Pete, C-Tayl is the best running back in the league. | |
Sarah2 Primetime games for the Vikings in a row? Yikes. | |
JonDon't tell me, I'm recording it. |

;( Missed out on last weeks picks, would have got 15 too...I'll make it up with 16 this week!! |

Here is a week 15 math question that would take me like 2 hours to figure out. Since I only have four hours to study - I thought I would once again ask for the help of the nutcan brainiac math team. Here goes - it's about my econ grade again. 90-100 = A 87-89 = A- 84-86 = B+ 80-83 = B Less than B- etc Currently PackOne has 103 out of 107 homework points weighted at 40 percent Currently PackOne has 160/217 test points weighted at 60 percent. There are 8 possible points of homework available There are 20 possible points of test available. By calculating my current score, does doing any of the remaining homework or test points do me any good? If so, how many points (most importantly test points) do I need to score to move my grade? I am confident I will end up with at least 4 homework points for 100 percent credit. Thanks if you help. |
Matt - Ombudsman 12/11/2007 @ 06:22:46 PM |
||
---|---|---|
One question, does the 217 total test points include the 20 possible left? In other words, if you get all 20 left, will you be at 180/217 or 180/237 |
PackOne - Well you can get this lapdance here for free. 12/11/2007 @ 06:24:01 PM |
||
---|---|---|
180/217 I have one quiz left to take but total points are already calculated. Thanks Matt. |
Matt - Ombudsman 12/11/2007 @ 06:38:30 PM |

OK, then assuming you get all the homework points, you'll need 9 test points for an A- (assuming the teacher rounds the % up, 10 pts. to be sure). 20 points will get you 89.77%, which should be an A with rounding. If you get you get 0 of 20, you stay with a B+ |

Thanks I appreciate it. That puts me really close to a 4 point if I can pull it off. If it was fruitless I thought I would take a nap instead. |

Psych major - Journalism minor...obviously not Economics or Mathematics. I also have a specialization in GEM (Golf Enterprise Management) which hopefully results in the writing of reviews in some form or capacity. Patented Jeremy EDIT: This would be a great time to note that now I can fill out my bio with the new nutcan features. This would eliminate the previous question. Such progress. |

I personally don't like the Pats, but that's me... personally. What I really dislike is when people can't recognize greatness (or even talent for that matter) on other teams. I dig AD/AP, I like that "young pup" Romo, LT? Hell yes. Talk shit about the Packers all you want- I just hope you remember this season in what would have been Brady's 17th season. Here's a hint- they don't make 'em like they used to, he won't get there. Sure I respect Brady's talent, but God do I dislike him... personally. |

For those who don't like the Favre/Network love fest...how are you liking the sweet Journey tributes I'm seeing. Clearly Favre is a better quarterback than Tom Brady since Brady has to stop believin' but Favre....he don't stop We don't get Packer games much out here in NYC. Who the hell are all these people? |

It is official. Favre is the greatest QB of all time. NO argument about it anymore, right? The Packers can get home field advantage if they win their next two games and the cowboys lose one of their next two. Why couldn't the Lions have jumped on that fumble last week. |

I think they're just girly. I think a certain token amount does go to the cancer, but that's not why people buy them. Edit: And they aren't marketed as that being a big "feature" of buying them anywhere I've noticed. |

Roy Williams got suspended for his millionth horse collar tackle. Justice! They put the penalty in there because of him and yet he still does it every other game. If he's so good, why does he still do that? I was surprised McNabb didn't get hurt on that play. |

For Rufio and Micah- At the sports aparrel shop I work part time at, we have a few jerseys of past "Legends" of football. One is Sanders. What was that Micah used to say? Sanders could have an O-line of gumball machines (practically did) and he would still be an allstar? |

All this Barry sanders talk has made me want to look into just how screwed Barry Sanders did get in 1997 when Favre was given .5 of his MVP. In 1997 Sanders ran an NFL record 14 consecutive 100 yard games, including two 200 yard performances, rushing for 2,053 yards overall. He became only the 3rd player ever to hit 2000 in a single season. Sanders rushed for 300 yards more than the closest running back while averaging a sick 6.1 yards a carry. In 1997 Brett Favre was 2nd in yards, threw 6 more touchdowns than his nearest competitor, but was also tied for the 3rd most interceptions (16) his 92.6 QB rating was a full 12 points behind the leader. It was Favre's fewest yards since his 1993 season, and his most interceptions in that same span. In other words, even comparing apples to apples and limiting your argument to would-be-Barry-robbing-quarterbacks, you could make a pretty good argument Brett didn't even have the best year in that group in 1997. (Wanna know something weird? The guy you'd likely be making the case for is Jeff George.) |

And for a little perspective: 2.5 time MVP Brett Favre all time bests: Passing Yards 4,413 (1995), Touchdowns 39 (1996), Interceptions 13 (a few times), Rating 99.5 (1995) Daunte Culpepper 2004 Non-MVP: Passing Yards 4717, Touchdowns 39, Interceptions 11, Rating 110.9 |

But just a couple of things, The Packers finished 11-5 in 95 and 13-3 in 96 and 97 while Culpepper and the Vikings finished 8-8 in 2004. Wins do mean something in MVP voting. Also In 2004 Peyton Manning shattered all the passing records, so he was a shoe in for MVP, otherwise Culpepper would have been considered. On the Vikings-Bears. Yes the game was ugly, but they found a way to win despite practically handing the game away. I think it gave everyon a wake up call that Tavaris Jackson is not there yet and should never throw 30 times in a game. It also gave the Vikings a game in which they had to come from behind in, which I belive is the first time it has happend during the streak. |

My point wasn't that Culpepper should have been the MVP, though I think you could have made a better argument than people seem to think. It was that MVP is just relative to others, and not some lasting beacon of greatness. Edit: Also, I'm not so sure wins should play any part at all, certainly not a big factor. |

Not really, I just think people make too big a deal out of MVP when in reality it's just a real life "curve". Brett's MVP seasons were just B's in a world of C's. |
