Raiders 22 @ Vikings 29 |
JeremyThe Raiders benched Culpepper, now they might go back to him. FYI, this game almost certainly wont be on TV. I've decided my "boycott" (since they already have our ticket $$) would be no more concessions. Ziggy will think twice about not making wholesale changes in the off season when he thinks back on whatever cut from my $10 worth of food he would have gotten! | |
MattJim Kleinsasser needs to start stepping up. | |
SarahThis could be the least exciting game ever. The Vikings don't even have a team. Is this going to be blacked out? BLah. | |
JonThis game deserves no comment. |
Patriots 56 @ Bills 10 |
JeremyI guess this is supposed to be a trap game. I think everyone will just say that about every game so they can then claim they called it if/when the Patriots do lose. | |
MattI liked it a lot better when the Bills were good and the Patriots sucked. | |
SarahWouldn't it be cool if the Bills beat the Patriots? Wouldn't it be cool if a lot of things happened that couldn't? Totally... | |
JonYou can hate the Patriots all you want, just remember that you were loving it when they beat St. Louis in the Super Bowl, cause they were a feel good story. It's not that I think it's hypocritical if that's the case, I just think it's a good thing to keep in mind. |
Titans 20 @ Broncos 34 |
JeremySeems like we were just in Denver on Monday night. | |
MattI don't care about this game. | |
SarahThe Titans have a good record, but haven't played very well. I'm gonna go with the Broncos on this, but it's really a toss-up. | |
JonTwo of the best coaches of the last decade plus. |

Cowboys vs Redskins Cowboys will win over the redskins. I predict the score about 42-35. Cowboys defense has stepped up and is certainly going to show the redskins what's all about to be "americas team". Packers vs Panthers Packers will win against the panthers because the panthers have an old quarterback who is testaverde who cant throw.Brett favre has thrown a touchdown in all games and is on a row. Texans vs Saints Reggie Bush will get 2 touchdowns against the texans and drew brees will throw over 300 yards. |

Cowboys V Redskins i predict the redskins will go and upset the cowboys....cowboys are going to be living high on their thrown and they will be knocked off....if the cowboys win it will be because the redskin defense was not able to stop Romo.... they couldnt stop favre last time.... they wont stop romo...... Packers V Panthers Packers i think will get a close win at home.... close win because i think they defense might take a vacation and vinny might have a good day.... i hope that doesnt happen but u never know..... Chargers V Jaguars Chargers will be comming off a big win at home... but it will be a repeat of what happened in Minnesota.... LT will suck and the Jaguars Rushing game will be running all over the field... Jags win it by a TD or 2..... Texans V Saints Texans are at home and the saints are comming off a huge loss.... expect them to rise and knock off the Texans at home.... Schab is going to be sacked like Constantople..... and Reggie Bush is going to be running all over the field..... Jets V Steelers Jets are at home and the steelers are comming a win by their teeth.... they will come into the Medow Lands and lose. Big Ben will have a crappy day and the Jets will have a surprisingly big game.... Jets win it by a field goal........ i may be wrong about some of these but i think anything is possible in football..... see you guys later...... buh bye |

Vikings vs Raiders I predict that Chester Taylor, grabbed instantly by fantasy teams across the nation, get shuts down by an eight man front leaving whatever pathetic Viking quarterback that starts having to pass to win. Since you need receivers to catch the ball, I predict a Viking loss by more than a couple of points. |

Saints are going to lose to Texans NOEL!!! And all you who think Texans are going to lose!! Saints have a chance but if matt plays he is better than Drew Brees. And reggie bush cant do anything . And NOEL IS SO STUPID THINKING REGGIE AND BREES ARE TO DO THAT GOOD. BUT NOEL DOESNT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL ANYWAY!!! THATS RIGHT!!!! I AM RIGHT HE IS WRONG. I think that the texans are going to beat the saints by a 2 tds. texans want it more this year. its close one with the titans and the broncos but i think that that vince young is going to comeback in the 4th quater and steal the win against them. i think i chose the right picke for this week. its another close one betwwen the browns and ravens but i dont think that mcnair is going to do anything. He has only got 2 tds the whole year even though he was injured that is no EXCUSE!! |

I met Bryant McKinnie today- remember him? Left Tackle for the Vikes or something? I googled him, since I don't know much about the team, and aparently (on Wiki) he is one of the players from the Love Boat deal. All that drama aside, he was pretty nice, for a Viking! Jerm, I'd give you that football if it didn't say "To Carl" Proof- http://fotozap.com/ShowPhotos.do?e=877329&p=706898&x=7ae849045b32 |

packers are going to win the panthers game cause old testaverde sucks and cant throw. on the other hand brett favre is old and is still muy bueno. |

I'm scared going to Dallas, (the Packers that is), I think we might have early 90's flashbacks. Although I hope I'm wrong! Although the Vikings did almost beat them, so maybe we have a chance. We can beat the Panthers, they are having QB problems. |

I am also nervous about the Cowboys. I remember being so happy the 'boys won- once they won because of 8 or so field goals, no touchdowns. At the time they were my team; Emmit, Irving, Aikman, Deon, oh man, those were the days. To Come to Jeremy's defence- He's a true Vikings fan... not just in the good times, but in bad. sickness, and in health. worse, or even worse. |

Can any of you math genius, horse riding warlocks tell me how to figure this simple problem out? If I have 100 percent in one section of a class weighted at 40 percent of my total grade, and 81 percent in another section weighted at 60 percent of my grade, what is my grade now? PS Whats up with the sporadic server errors. I think someone cast a make this site run like crap spell today. |

Hey everyone, Brand new to this, but wanted to let you know that I am predicting a couple upsets this week. 1st - Wasington at Dallas - I think this game is gonna be closer than people are predicting. T.O. is amazing and I find myself a fan of his the last couple years (something I thought I would never say during his play days in Philadelphia), HOWEVER I feel that the pressure is finally going to get to Romo this week and they will lose at home by 6. 2nd - San Diego at Jacksonville - They've been getting better since their dismal start. And last week's game against Indianapolis went amazing for them. Granted Indy wasn't having the greatest game, but their Special Teams and Defense did a truly remarkable job. David Garrard is all set to return for the Jaguars on Sunday, but he may not be completely healed after the ankle trouble he sustained a couple weeks ago. He will have troubles dropping back and the Jaguars will be liable to turn the ball over quite a lot. Look for a LOT of turnovers and San Diego winning by 9. Oh, and by the way. The Packers are going to crush the Panthers. If you haven't figured that one out already. |

PackOne- I have to go to the Nutcan.com store later tongiht. I have $4.85 to spend. I want equal quantities of walnuts and cashews, but half as many macadamia nuts as Walnuts. If Tom shows up and loans me another $3.79, what is the maximum qty of nuts I can buy? Walnuts: 1.25 lb Cashews: 2.85 lb Macamadamia nuts: priceless |

If Macamadamia [sic] (Who are you, Homer Simpson?) nuts are priceless then they are free, so you can buy an infinite about of nuts for your 4.85, or 8.64 Edit: (Though I guess if you were stupid you could buy your 1.18 pounds of Walnuts and Cashews (or 2.11 for the $8.64) and only take half those amounts of free "Macamadamia" nuts.) |

Actually if you want equal amounts of both you can buy 2 lbs of each and have .44 cents left to piss someone else off with. Edit: The original question was asked because our professor gave us some weird formula that I knew was far more difficult than it needed to be. Since nutcan is like an abacus on steroids I figured I would just outsource. |

My thought is this. I need a solid QB you still have Anderson who continues to put up solid points. Edge is a solid starter and not injured. Young runs in the Denver offense which is one the top rated rushing teams in the league. Currently you have no starting RB's at all for this week. We could also talk about Philip Rivers if you needed a fall back QB as well. Ward - Not Playing Williams - Backup Keith - Backup |

Whatever you decide - you still need a second starter. I don't know about a cancel, but, I voted against. Not fair fantasy value. Edit: Why help out a team that you have a legit shot at catching. Catching me is gonna be tough, catching AC is in your reach. It's like the Packers trading with the Vikes. |

I think that unless 5 other nutcanners vote against, it should be a done deal for week 12. Honestly, I know what I'm giving up with Manning, I don't expect him to play entire games past week 13, 14, so I could be looking at 50% 75% potential from him. With Anderson as starting QB, I can count on him to make points AND have to play hard for the post-season. That is my real motivation for the trade, although Anderson had been on the auction block for WR and RBs for several weeks! |

Raiders vs Vikings I hate Brad Childress so much, who is starting at QB? Who cares...the Raiders are pathetic also and the game is in Minnesota so they actually might win. Panthers at Packers Brett Favre is the young QB in this game against Testeverde. Hopefully he will employ the strategy of throwing it right at 2 defenders and still ending up with the touchdown. Packers win this easily. Pats at Bills I picked the Bills for the heck of it. They are better than you think, should have 2 more wins on therre record. The game is at home on sunday night, Buffalo gets up for these kind of games. I hate the Patriots. Titans at Broncos Shannahan is overrated, hasn't dont s**t without Elway (one playoff win), but Broncos are usually good for a Monday night win at home. Vince Young is overrated too. |

I think that if you live in the state the team is in, a local station should broadcast the game. I know last year, some local stations bought the rights to broadcast the packers/vikings game that was on the NFL network. In Green Bay the local ABC station is broadcasting the Packers vs Cowboys game on the 29th. Come on Northwestern WI get with the program! |

I think the NFL has a policy where, other than a blackout, if you are in a teams home market you are guaranteed to get the game on TV. My brother lives in Hudson which is in the Vikings home market, so the Vikings-Packers game last season on the NFL network was played on a local channel at his house. The same thing with my wife's grandmother in Milwaukee (Milwaukee is part of Green Bay's home market.) Basicaly, Sarah, the scenario you mention about Green Bay broadcasting on the local TV station is not necessarily due to one local station doing something nice, but the NFL following through on it's promise to allow fans in the home market to watch the games. Any other part of Wisconsin besides the Green Bay area and Milwaukee will not get the game locally, and are most likely not legally able to do what is being done in the Green Bay area |

I think the Independence area purchased the game last year, because I saw an advertisement on a billboard for it as I was driving through last year. It just doesn't seem fair, because we are in the home market, we don't get other games when the Packers are playing, we get the Packers. We are in Wisconsin, I think we should be allowed to see our team play in the most important non-playoff game of the year. |

Bribegate? ESPN reported this off-handedly on Sunday's NFL Countdown. I thought it was odd that the Packers' defense would openly admit this to the reporters. I thought it was against the rules when they reported it, and sure enough. I hope our linebackers and cornerbacks don't get in too much trouble for offering the "bribe" and in turn I hope our linemen don't get in trouble for accepting the money. |

Since the money was based on performance I don't think anyone has anything to worry about. This rule usually takes affect when a player offers money to another to hurt someone. Since the bets were to hold people under a certain amount of rushing yards, it shouldn't come into play. It was already determined that the hit to AP was not intentional. |

It is innocent team motivation. I would interpret this rule as a safeguard to not have someone pay off a linebacker to cripple the opposing QB- Not as what it looks like here. Reminds me of Torii sending a gift to a friend- I think it was when the Royals beat soemeone? Refresh pls. |

The classic bounty is an offer of money or other benefits in exchange for injuring a player. But to the extent that limiting a player's production can be satisfied in part by, for example, tearing the player's LCL, it's probably not a good idea for incentives of this nature to be dangled in front of NFL players. |

AP was hit by Al Harris, who was handing out the money, not receiving, so I think we're ok there. Although, I suppose that is one way to limit one's rushing yards. |

Jeremy Wrote - 11/19/2007 @ 01:04:07 PM I dont think that's what he meant. A lot of leagues just start 2 qb's. As for this topic I agree that future cumulative points leagues could be a little more competitive. I think a second QB could help, maybe a PPR option, or simply more people actually paying attention to their teams and trades. I feel that if the true intent of a fantasy league is to keep things fun for sixteen weeks, then the goal should be to even the playing field. Maybe a roster reduction is in order, who knows? I give Sarah full credit for putting together a super human powered fantasy stud team. For me, it isn't fun to be out of it already. |

I don't see anything in that article that says anything about injuries. Don't worry though, this will be forgotten in like a day. The media is too busy discussing whether or not one of 9000 recording devices in the stadium being aimed at an opposing coach while he gives signals in full public view single handedly won the Patriots 3 championships or not. Players violating technicalities like "don't bribe one another" will be no big deal. I mean the NFL doesn't even worry about things like bribes....right? | ||

Also, the dumb thing about the field goal/pooch punt is that if you don't a) kick it in the endzone, b) kick it out of bounds, or c) completely catch the return team off guard, you are basically screwed and waiting for disaster. As it turns out, you now have a bunch of offensive linemen attempting to cover a punt. Not a good scenario. |

Isn't great coaching all about exploiting your opponents' weaknesses? After all if there was a mistake made by the Panthers only having 10 men on the field, then perhaps we should ship an abacus to Carolina to teach them how to add up their players correctly. It was no surprise to Carolina that the Packers were going to punt. And it is certainly not the responsibility of the opposition to notify you should you have made a boo-boo. We've all rooted for a team that has screwed up from time to time. This is what those in the scientic world call "being human". However, in the end one thing reigns true. This one play did not shift the outcome of the game. The Packers have formed a terrific, young team. A team which Brett Favre had gone on record as calling "one of the most talented organizations" he had ever been a part of. This statement initially made even the most die hard Packer fans look at Brett Favre as if he were double-dosing Zoloft. However, at this point in the season even the commentators who originally said "The Packers are a good team, BUT..." are now able to see that Coach Mike McCarthy HAS assembled a wonderful team. Are we realiant upon the arm of Brett Farve? Sure we are. But, then again, try looking me in the eye and tell me that the Patriots would be at 10-0 if they were without Tom Brady. If the Packers had somehow KNOWN that the Panthers were only going to have 10 players on the field during the punt return, then I would like to thank whomever decided to put Sylvia Brown and Ms. Cleo on the payroll. |

premierdj Wrote - 11/19/2007 @ 10:32:26 PM Isn't great coaching all about exploiting your opponents' weaknesses?... If you are conjecturing that Mike McCarthy normally advises his returners to just fall over, or if at all possible run backwards, however this time, noticing the 10 players from the sideline quick signaled in "try to actually return this one" then yes I would say that's a good coaching move, but overall I don't think I'd call it good coaching. "You, Strawberry, hit a home run!" "Ok, skip." [Homerun ensues] "I told him to do that." |

I don't think the decision to return the punt had anything to do with the Packers realizing that there were only 10 players on the field. It was more to do with "if it looks like you've got a whole, take it. There are 7 offensive lineman on the field, there's no way they will catch you if you get into the open." The 10 men on the field was just one blunder in the stupid decision to attempt to cover a punt with the field goal team. |

You really think McCarthy told the team "If they pooch punt it go get the ball and then run it to the endzone, I know your first instinct will be to give the ball to the other team, or use the ball in a ritualistic sacrifice to Ra, but you ARE allowed to score by NFL rule, and I'd prefer you did that." |
Scott - Ma'am, can you make sure your computer is turned on? 11/20/2007 @ 11:43:57 AM |
||
---|---|---|
No he probably said something like, "if they line up like they are going to kick a field goal, don't buy it. They are probably going to pooch it. If in fact they do, Williams, I want you to line up at about the 10 yard line. If you think you might have an opening, pick up the ball. Otherwise, let it go and we'll take it where it lands." It's not what I would call absolute genious (nor did I ever ensue that this play was masterful coaching at all, that was what someone else said, I just feel inclined to challenge Jeremy at all time), but it still is something worth noting, because a lot of times you teams just letting a pooch fieldgoal/punt bounce, when in fact it might be a good gamble to try to return a kick that is being covered by 7 offensive linemen. That play aside, the Packers are pretty well coached team. |

You guys clearly don't understand coach coaching when you see it. (Coming from someone who thinks coaches aren't needed or overrated, I'm not surprised though.) Ok, that was probably "bustin' chops" for the sake of bustin' chops. edit: considering that this last "coaching" discussion was just big "lets poke each other and see how the other reacts", I'm retracting my last comment. |

Week after week, the Packers continue to amaze me. This means my hopes keep getting higher and higher. Am I thinking about the impossible dream? Yea, sure, why not? If it happens, would I want to spend my savings on a ticket to Arizona? Hells yea. But first we need to survive the 2nd half of the season. And then the playoffs....Jon
Carolina is awful. The Packers are for real, or at least as real as anyone non-patriot-or-colt can get.
