Dumbass bears. They had a chance to win the game and instead leave it in the hands of Rex Grossman. I don't like the Bears, but I decided I don't like the Patriots. They are cheap and dirty. Even just watching this game I saw how cheap and dirty they are. I'm tired of hearing about them. They better not go to the Super Bowl I swear. |

I want to change my pick to Green Bay if for no other reason than to try and tie for the weekly lead. Honestly though this game could be 40-0. And either team could be the one with 40. I shouldn't jinx myself, but it's looking like Favre over Rothlisburger was the correct fantasy QB call this week. |

Well, that's not the only reason and it would be a tie not a win. It's Favre on MNF. I just have a feeling. |

The Giants lost their game against the Titans because that one guy didn't want a roughing the passer call and now we get a bullshit roughing the passer call and it costs us our game. Sounds fair. |

My dad said that he thinks that was the worst call he has seen in about 20 years. I think Jenkins actually got a piece of the ball whilest in the process of tackling hasselbeck. Oh crap. |

I think the NFL needs to seriously reconsider their policy for calling roughing the passer. I'm all for protecting the qb from blatant acts of dirtiness, late hits, un-necessarily rough hits (driving a qb into the ground, piling on, etc), but I don't think I will meet much opposition when I say that the NFL has gone a bit too far. This weekend has provided 2 golden examples of why roughing the passer needs fixing. The Giants-Titans game: defensive end has Vince Young wrapped up, thinks that Young had thrown the ball, fears getting called for a roughing the passer on a QB without the ball, player lets Young go, and Young picks up a first down on 4th and 10. If this defensive end hadn't been so terrified of getting flagged, the Giants most likely would have won. Packers-Seahawks: Cullin Jenkins hits Matt Hasselbeck on 3rd and 9, Matt Hasselbeck throws incomplete pass. Jenkins gets flagged for rtp despite the fact that the hit actually altered the throwing motion of matt hasselbeck. Where was the late hit? In fact, Jenkins put his hands up right from the start of the hit in an attempt to show the ref that he wasn't hitting the qb late. Ironically enough, his putting his hands in the air caused him to apparently tap the back of Hasselbeck's helmet. So Jenkins tried to avoid making the hit bad so that he wouldn't get called for RTP, and because of that his actions made something worse happen. Say what you will about Brett Favre and the alleged rule named after him, but this is a much bigger problem than one guy getting some alleged special attention (along with the fact that I have never heard of the rule outside of the Vikings fan base). Protect the qb, don't let players have their way with a defenseless qb 4 or 5 steps after the throw or play, or hitting a qb after a feet first slide. But let defensive players play their game. The NFL has sold |

A few thoughts: 1) Somehow to me the fact that the call was technically correct makes it even worse. Calls get blown a lot and it sucks. However the fact that by the letter of the law a hand sliding up and brushing the helmet when the QB has the ball and is 98% of the way to the ground already IS a penalty is worse. 2) Either Joe Buck or Troy Aikman discussed the "Brett Favre Rule" on TV. 3) I think we've exceeded the allotted amount of times recent comments can contain forms of the word "whore". |

the explanation the ref gave was correct, except that the replay showed that Jenkins didn't do what the ref said he did. But your point is a good one nonetheless. |

Maybe this is just my own personal perception, but I've been thinking the same thing all season but more so along the lines of qbs running down field. Does anyone else think that qbs probably average at least a yard longer on runs than a rb ever would? No qbs give themselves up by sliding feet first 2 yards in front of the defender. They always try to wait to the last possible moment and do some sort of awkward fall over motion, seemlingly trying to have the ball more forward of their body position than a "normal" slide would be. A running back trying to do that would be pounded into the ground, but defensive players are too afraid to hit qbs. I have similar feelings that they've gotten too touchy about hitting people on the sidelines. If the defensive player begins his tackling motion before the offensive player has physically touched down out of bounds it shouldn't be a penalty. I think it was the Bears that got called for this Sunday and it was ridiculous. |

The NFL should adopt the "if there is any doubt, it most likely is not a penalty" policy. It is usually pretty obvious when there is something blatantly late, or overly vicious. When there is any question at all, it almost definitely means that there was no intent to harm anyone. | ||

They should apply the same late hit rules to the sidelines that they do anywhere else. If the whistle blows and the player does something avoidable it's a penalty. If the player hasn't been out of bounds long enough for the whistle to blow the play dead how can you call a "late hit out of bounds?" |
