Steelers 20 @ Packers 10 |
JeremyGreen Bay is up for the Steelers so of course that means it's time for the 3rd string quarterback. QB 4 got me almost no points in fantasy football last week and Plummer sat on the bench with a 33 point day. I think it will be the last time QB 4 sees the field for the Vitals for a while. Luckily you can't get negative points for inexplicable stupidity to lose the game. I may have been in trouble then.
MattEven with Charlie Batch going for the Steelers, the Packers still have no shot. Steelers 17 - Packers 7
JonInteresting note about Green Bay, I don't care.
SarahI just don't know what to do anymore. My beloved team can't catch a break to save their life. What was up with cutting Joey Thomas? Going into the season they touted him higher than Ahmad Carroll and then foomp! he's gone. Interesting... Well, we've all seen this Charlie Batch guy before and despite what the media is saying, I don't think he was ever good in Detroit. Or he was for a game and then sucked it up. Do you believe in miracles? Cause uh, I'm starting to have my doubts. |
Eagles 10 @ Commanders 17 |
JeremyOWENS OWENS OWENS is out. I think Washington is somewhat overrated. McNabb is going to fall apart at some point.
MattIf the Potatoes still had the Official Coach of Page 3, they would win 36-14, but without him they will only win 35-14.
JonNo one makes me like Donovan McNabb more than T.O. This has surpassed Shaq Kobe proportions.
SarahTO keeps getting into trouble. WIth "his" Favre comment I hope that we don't try and sign him or something next year. (I don't know if we'd have the money, maybe we would if we didn't sign Green) Can you imagine what that would be like? Let's all pause and imagine the horror. I just shuddered. I keep waiting for McNabb to break into like 100 pieces on the field, but he keeps hanging in there. My fantasy points are going way down though. Maybe I should pick up batch for the week. Ha |
Colts 40 @ Patriots 21 |
JeremyIndy FINALLY gets over the hump here. All it took was for them to put together a undefeted team and wait for the pats to be near 500.
MattI'm sick of New England. Colts 23 - Patriots 14
JonI didn't know these teams were playing this week. Does anyone know if Peyton Manning has had any success or failures against New England? I wonder if any of the coaches went on a fishing trip recently.
SarahYea yea Indy is soooo good, but even when you're the best, if you go TO your nemisis, you don't stand a chance. Or at least I hope not because I'm going with NE. |

With Harrington back at the helm the Bears have officially won the division by default. I don't condone TO's actions, but I don't see how suspending him helps the Eagles at all. They aren't going to be able to beat TO into submission like they unmercifully do to all their other players (Westbrook is probably one of the top 3 backs for a team that throws 99% of the game and they won't pony up), so they might as well take what they can get from TO on the field. It's not like he hasn't been playing well, or that they have any other halfway decent WRs on the team. And it doesn't pay to try to start losing to move up in the draft cause they'll never catch the Packers and Vikings. I hope NE and their sneaky injury reports get blasted to smithereens . |

Right, they can only suspend him for 4 games, although he was hurt anyway for this game. (although i was reading some articles and it said that he practiced just fine) So let's say he wasn't going to play so they punish him just for looks, well what does that do for anyone? It pisses TO off, it makes other players suspiscious and well just doesn't accomplish anything. He's their best receiver and with McNabb banged up the way he is, really their only shot at staying in the hunt for the playoffs. (unless they plan on starting to run the ball) They don't seem to treat their players very well. They have a lot of cap space, but don't want to pay any of their players. I don't have a problem with them not paying TO, but they let go of Corey Simon, and they won't give Westbrook a contract. What gives? It's all fishy and it sounds like it's not an organization people would want to play for. Do you think the Packers will end up with like the #1 draft? We keep arguing over who they will draft, Leinart or Bush. I say Bush, because we're going to get rid of Green. But it would be funny if we did get Leinart because then well what was the point in Rodgers? Phooey I say. Of course this is under the assumption that we will have a worse record than the Texans. If we both wind up with 1-15 records, then what does it go to? Strength of opponent's records? Who our win was against? 'Cause they beat the Browns and we did not, but I don't know if they played the Saints, but the Saints are better than the Browns. Patriots- I was going to bench Pass last week because it sounded like Dillon was going to start last week, but then if Pass hadn't gotten hurt, it looks like Corey wouldn't have played at all. Why do they get to get away with that? There are rules about injury reports yet the Patriots get to skirt that. It sux for FF players. I think the Badgers should just take a nap on the field. |

I didn't watch the whole game, but I don't think Stocco was that bad. And certainly not the only reason the Badgers lost. Penn State has a good defense. |

He was better in the second half and he never gave up, but he didn't step up either. Everyone knew that they weren't going to be able to run the ball as well as normally, so Stocco needed to step up and have a huge game, and he was average at best. Certainly the O-line didn't give him much help either, but I have hard time believing that with the WRs they have there weren't more guys open when Stocco did have time. The main reason they lost is cause they got down early, thanks to the defense and one Bret Bell who just doesn't look like he ever fully recovered from his injury. And the interception in the end zone was huge too, but that was the most predictable interception ever. They should've tried to pound it in on the ground or throw a fade to Orr. Don't put Stocco in a position to fail at that point. If the Packers get the #1 they have to take Bush. Or trade down for more picks. Otherwise I quit. |

In my opinion, if the packers get the number 1 pick, I don't think they can lose. The draft class seems pretty deep for the first 2 or 3 picks. Vince Young(who right now is having a better year than Matt Leinart), Matt Leinart, and Reggie Bush are the 3 that, if Bush and Young decide to go pro, will go 1,2,3(probably) in some particular order. But Bush and Young are both Juniors, so I guess we won't technically know until the college season is over. But that won't matter because the Packers are going to win out, win the division, and go to the Super Bowl only to lose by a field goal to the Patriots, which later will show that the kick was wide right. |

Bucks are 3-0!!!!! It's early, but this is easily the best looking team they've had since they got screwed by the refs in the Eastern Conference Finals (they also got screwed in those playoffs by Tim Thomas playing the best 10 games of his career). They have way more talent inside with Bogut and Magloire, Simmons actually remind me a lot of Big Dog last night by showing some range with the jumper and also throwing it down in Mourning's face in the closing minutes of a close game but he also seems to play more defense, Redd is just as good a scorer as Allen ever was, Ford is a better overall point guard then Cassell and Williams makes up for any lack of scoring at the guard positions. Throw in some extra big bodies in Gadzuric and Smith when he gets healthy, one wily playoff experienced veteren in Kukoc, and a former Big Ten star in Charlie Bell and the sky is the limit. |

That was a nice catch, I'll give them that. I guess this was the spark the Vikings needed. Johnson and Culpepper are very different QBs. The announcers made the comment that Daunte would wait til a wr was open before he threw the ball whereas Brad just throws and the wr just has to know when to turn around to look for the ball. Stupid Lions. |

ok, here's a rant: Favre said that his future may depend on whether or not Sherman returns. Well, here's what I have to say. It is worth it to me to say fairwell to Favre on a hall of fame career if it means that Mike Sherman gets banned from lambeau field for a period not exceeding 10 years. 1st and 5.....run for 2 yards.....2nd and 3....run for 1 yard.....3rd and 2.....run for less than a yard (all with a a 5th string rb!!!!) I will go on record to say that the single worst thing ever to happen to sports (other than free agency:)) is on the field reporting. What does a coach have to say after his team gave up 10 points on turnovers and are down 13-3 at halftime. Go away. |

In response to Scott: Your best day rushing was without Ahman and this 5th string guy you picked up did just as well as Ahman was doing (except without 2 fumbles) In response to Sarah: The reason Johnson throws to a reciever he knows will be open vs Daunte's wait for a player to come fre is because we switched offensive styles for the qb's. When Daunte is in we send guys way down field and hope they get open. Since Johnson can't "buy time" like Daunte they switched game plans to a quick timing route style offense (which we should have switched to since the day we traded Randy). and if I may: I didn't get to see a lot of the game but what I did saw Brett not being able to hit the broadside of a barn or throw a single pass that a wr didn't have to dive for. Also when you need 4 yards to keep the game alive and you can crawl for the 4 yards why throw a jump ball 40 yards down field? |

all good questions, I'll just assume that Jeremy's comment to which I responded earlier was simply "to get a rise", because the Packers were definitely much more stung by injuries going into this game than the Packers were. Also, I agree with the last part of Jeremy's comment about Favre not really being on today. He seemed to be throwing at a lot of feet, over heads, off the finger tips, and the like. As far as the last 4th down play, I don't know why he didn't run. I wonder if maybe he has lost all confidence in his team/coaches in that he didn't think it would have been worth it to even if he did get a first down. I think he was afraid that if he got the first down, they would just run 3 times and get 5 yards. |

Why don't they let Favre call the game himself, he has to knowthe offense better than anyone. At least go "Peyton Manning" and give him a couple plays to pick from. No, I'm not being sarcastic. A Team on their 3rd string QB is much worse off than a team on their 4/5th string running back. Jerome Bettis was on the sidelines too from what I saw. Also I don't think anyone here knows the Steelers line up well enough to claim they know anything about who they've lost. So while I think you could make an argument the Steelers were worse off it's a moot point because my original point was that it always seems the Packers play everyone's "b" team, which has really nothing to do with if the Packers start their 1st or 9th string team. |

Because Favre is not that good. His best seasons were when Holmgren had the offense under control and had Bret under control. His highlight reel is filled with plays were the play that was called didn't work and he made something happen. I'm not saying he doesn't know the offense, but he's no Peyton Manning. Plus the WRs and RBs probably only all know about 10 plays. Favre did suck it up today. If he doesn't start playing better, Rodgers at least needs to get some garbage time. The Vikings got to play Harrington instead of Garcia, plus Rogers didn't play and Roy and Jones were pretty banged up. |

The comment that the Packers play everyone's B team has to be one of the lamest things I have ever heard. It's as if you are making the claim that the Packers are the only team to ever play a team who is hurt. And at the same time, that assumption would only come close to making sense if and only if the Packers were at 100%, which they were not. And why are you only talking about Green? He's only the beginning of their injury list. And even though he wasn't having a great year anyway, he is still a valuable player for the Packers offense. I mean, the Packers have also lost Their backup running back, or their number 1 reciever, or their number 3 receiver, or a starting linebacker, or their starting center. And icbeast is right, Gado had been with the team since like Wednesday, so he basically knew only the running plays. I really can't take anything you say seriously anymore if you actually believe the things you talk about. Now please, start making smart comments about stuff that actually makes sense. |

one more thing then I'm done: By Jeremy's definition of "b" team: The Vikings beat the Packers' "b" team by 3 points on a 56 yard field goal. What does that say? In case you were wondering.....if being without Roethlesberger means the steelers were a "b" team, then the packers injury problems definitely qualifies. |

First of all all I said was that it figures they get down to their 3rd string qb right before the packer game. That's it. Also again playing a teams "b" team has nothing to do with what status your team is at. If a boxer was scheduled to fight and lost a limb a week before the fight it would still be a break for him if the oppenent showed up with no legs or a hang nail. (Of course this fight wouldn't happen then but you get my meaning) I never said no other teams get to play b teams I just meant it seems the other teams lose their star(s) right before Packer week. Obviously it's just selective memory. (But just in case Vick and Dunn better watch their step this week) Also I though Matt was trying to make a joke about the Steagles, but that is actually the answer. Odd. |

A comment about something Jeremy and icbeast commented on earlier about letting Favre call his own plays. In Favre's prime, I saw a stat that he maybe audibled on average 2 or 3 times per game, while Marino did the same thing maybe 15-20 times per game. Favre's comment on that was that he a lot of confidence in the plays that were called and he trusted his ability to make pretty much any play work. So it may not be that he isn't good enough (in Super Bowl 31, both of Favre's TD passes of 54 and 81 yards were audibles), but that he puts a lot of confidence in his coaches judgement to pick plays, and a lot of confidence in his ability to execute those plays. |

I answered it already: It's Washington who received 69 electoral votes to win the first election unopposed |

So when you say "for president" you don't mean they ended up being president? |

I'm looking for fewest votes in a lifetime, not just one election, so the total for Washington would be 203. Either way though, it wouldnt be Washington as the real number is less than 69. |

I mean I'm looking for the man, who was a U.S. President, to recieve the fewest Electoral Votes for President in their lifetime. I say Electoral Votes for President, because votes are also cast for Vice-President but nobody cares about those. |

Well John Tyler assumed the Presidency on the death of William Henry Harrison and did not run in the 1844 election. So he got 0 then. |

Same as: Andrew Johnson - Succeeded Abraham Lincoln, did not run in the 1868 election and Chester A. Arthur - Succeeded James Garfield, did not run in the 1884 election Fillmore looks like the fewest for a guy to be and run as president. He got 8. |

The Ramriots, The Patams, the Benets(could be French)(bengals/Jets), Steelers Panthers and Packers merge to form the Spankers....umm, well, steer clear of that one I guess. |

I've meant to post this about 5 times but I kept forgetting. Did I miss someone changing the rules of the English language? Over the weekend particularly I noticed a bunch of peeps on TV who apparently decided that adding ly at the ends of words isn't cool anymore. I remember one broadcaster say something like, "He's really running powerful right now." Shouldn't that be powerfully? I don't remember any of the other ones, but I know I heard the same lack of ly a couple of other times, and not all from the same guy. |

Lions 14 @ Vikings 27
Jeremy
I don't know what there is left to say. This is a season from hell. We already have our starting quarterback out for a good portion of NEXT year, more than likely. On a positive note either Brad Johnson will be the spark we need or will shut up the start anyone but Daunte crowd.Matt
I'm still going with Minnesota. Vikings 19 - Lions 15Jon
Did you guys realize that the Super Bowl is in Detroit? No wonder our division has done so poorly. They already all go there once a year. Why go back?Sarah
Are they saying Harrington might be QB for this one? I didn't get to see how bad/good Brad Johnson played last week. I think they only scored like a td. So, I think Johnson might be past his prime and I am going to go with Detroit on this one, even though I don't like Harrington.
