Saints 16 @ Vikings 33 |
JeremyThere's bad, and then there's bad. I was never nieve enough to beleive the addition via subtraction garbage. Playmakers make plays, plays win football games. No one ever won a game playing grab ass in the locker room. Add to the situation the fact that everyone except Matt Birk liked Moss and I just don't get it. And I knew there had to be some drop off with a new Offensive Coord, QB Coach, and OLine after giving up a play maker like Randy, but wow.The turnovers need to stop. The offense needs to change. There is still too much talent to be this bad. The problem is that we're still running an offense like Randy is here. We can't send everyone on a 30 yard route. Where are the 5 yard slants? Those are Nate Burleson's bread and butter anyway.
MattFire Mike Tice | |
JonMike Tice apparently got a vote of confidence from the Vikings' owner. In the sports world, there is nothing worse for a coach than the vote of confidence. Tice will be fired by October.
SarahOk, wow, I mean wow. We've at least put some games together. But watching the Vikings has been like watching a Packers playoff game. Turnover after turnover. It's been ugly. I don't know what to think. Supposedly all of the talent's there, but it just doesn't know how to work together? I don't know what the problem is. Add up all the injuries and I just don't see a win coming this week either. |
Giants 23 @ Chargers 45 |
JeremyI hope the Chargers get back on track here. I don't want the Giants to be a factor in anything after their 9 home games.
MattThe Giants Defense is keeping the ACCarters afloat. So far they've given me more points than my QB and three WRs combined.
JonI think the Giants are a bit worse than their record shows. Too bad the Patriots Steelers game can't be shown instead.
SarahThe opening kickoff for the Giants @ the Saints (please YA-right) was kind of a bummer. Saints fumbled and Giants recovered. Anyway, did anyone else catch the fantasy football week I had? I thought I could win the week by one or two points and then Santana Moss gets 30 points on Monday night. Heck ya! Go me and my one shining moment. |
Chiefs 10 @ Broncos 30 |
JeremyI think Plummer is going to ride the bench on my fantasy team this week.
MattFree Ron Dayne | |
JonThe Broncos could make it two years in a row of being completely unpredictable.
SarahAFC West games, great fun. Ok, so they had the Hurricane Katrina Telethon thing on MNF. Donovan F McNabb AND John Elway were both answering the phones. I wanted to call in SOOOO badly and give them a piece of my mind. I would've been a little nicer to DFM, because he's been my FF QB for like 4 years running, but I still would've said something about the 4th and 26th and how that crushed me. Then Elway was talking about how some people liked him now and then Howie Long piped in that he would smack him on the head and I wanted to call in and ask him to please do so. OOOO I wanted to call in soooo badly, but I mean really, what are the odds I actually get to talk to one of those boneheads? |

Wow, Jeremy's pulling for Favre this week. Tis a strange and ironic turn of events. The thing that makes this even more surprising is that the Packers are playing the #1 defense this week. Things could get interesting. |

Well it was just as much of a defensive move, there are lots of teams that need a qb, including mine. Im not sure I'll start him, but at least now no one else gets him :) ps I think we've made it clear that we dont hate favre per se, just the rediculous way the media talks about him |

So Minnesota and Green Bay are non victorious, but the Gophers just won (beating (11) Purdue) and are undefeated. Maybe the Badgers can keep up the pattern and give Wisconsin something to enjoy. |

Wow, WI did pull off the upset. I picked them to do that on the ESPN poll. :) The MN and WI college teams are doing much better than their professional counterparts. We didn't watch the second half of the game because I thought it was over, instead we watched I, Robot. We missed the first twenty minutes, but I thought it was pretty good. I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I totally went for something when it was actually going the other way. And then it was obvious, I still didn't get it til after the scene was over. Hilarious. I think my brain was taking a break. As if anyone cares. Ok did anyone watch the Daily Show on Thursday night? If not go to their website and watch the segment "sent packin" or something to that effect. You'll get a kick out of it, guaranteed. |

Steven Colbert: What do the Packers suck at? Spikin' Viking: Pretty much everything. Colbert: So, they probably suck at being...terrible? (sits back in glorious victory) Badger game was awesome. Probably the best game I've seen in a few years. The Badgers have an All-American on there hands in Brian Calhoun. He had 214 of UW's 287 total yards, and he's averaging 157 rushing yards per game thus far. Ok, so looking at the schedule before the season, I saw the Michigan game as really the only big question mark on their schedule. They don't play any ranked teams on the road, and they play Purdue and Iowa 4 weeks apart. I see big possibilities a-brewin'. Brewers beat the best team in baseball (the Cardinals) for the 2nd straight night to get back to .500. The Brewers need to finish 4-4 in their next 8 games to finish above .500 since 1992, which happens to be the same year the Packers started their current streak of winning seasons. Could be an interesting changing of the guards if the Packers don't turn things around this season. |

While certainly a great line, I question whether you actually even saw the clip. Do you know who Stephen Colbert is? He is not Rob Corrdry. :) apologies on the spelling if it's wrong |

it was rob corrdry? I don't really pay attention to the names of the people on that show. oops. I saw it when it airred on TV though, I just forgot exactly how it went. I was close though, wasn't i? I just watched it again. Here's how it went word for word. ==== Corddry: What do the Green Bay Packers suck at? Spikin' Viking: Uh, pretty much everything. Corddry: So they suck at everything. So then they would suck at...being terrible. ==== I'd say I got it pretty close, I just guessed wrong on the name of the guy who did it. And besides, if I hadn't seen the clip, that would have been an unbelievably random and lucky quote to just have just thrown out there, which also would have been cool. :) |

It's the Bears though, I just can't admit that yet. It just won't happen. We'll bounce back. They did a funny skit on Jerry Rice. He admitted that he had to retire, now if only he could admit that he fumbled the ball in the playoffs against us... |

Fire Mike Sherman, Fire the offensive Coordinator. Taking the ball out of the quarterback's hands, any QB, with 1:50 left in a half is inexcusible. The Packers coaching staff is not letting Favre do anything, and the 2 times they did let him air it out he threw 2 great passes. Favre could still play for about 2 or 3 years, but not with Sherman at the helms. Pull 'em. That roughing the passer penalty on kampman was a joke. |

so instead of defensive touchdown for the Packers, it's Tampa Bay's ball and they continue to drive. But then again, wanting a fumble to be called when I guy drops the ball is just a stupid Packer fan complaining about the refs. |

I'm a few comments behind here, but my internet connection and or my cable modem have been bastards as of late. I didn't realize until I just double checked now how relatively easy the Badgers schedule is. I knew they got Purdue and Iowa at home, but I thought they had Minnesota and Michigan State on the road when they in fact don't play Michigan State at all. However, it is likely that Minnesota will be a ranked team when they play them. Still, the young defense has been suprising good, especially considering all the injuries they've had. If they can keep those guys healthy, and Stocco the schizo plays like he did on their 2 good long drives instead of like the high school freshmen he looked like the rest of the game, they have a good chance to run the table. The Brewers have given me one more chance to jinx them, they're back to .500. Also, college football is twice as exciting as the NFL. When was the last time an NFL team gave up a TD to go behind in the 4th quarter, then ran a flea-flicker to score on their next play???? |

The Packers should've won the game for so many reasons. Such a bunch of bull. Awful officiating. But, I can't really blame that. We had chance after chance to turn this game around and we didn't. The running game once again didn't do anything and Ferguson and Favre are not on the same page. Something should be done about that. We missed an xp and it kicked us in the ass. We missed a fg and it kicked us in the ass. We got the ball at the 32 because of OUR FIRST TAKEAWAY OF THE SEASON and we only get a FG. I mean, what the heck is going on? We had how many penalties and still stayed in the game and still only lost by 1 point? To lose by 2 and then to lose by 1 and to still play crappy football hurts a lot. Maybe it is easier to get blown out. We play sooo badly and yet we don't look that badly because we hang in there, it's sooo bizarre. And now we're 0-3. That's FAN-tastic. |

0-3 doesn't concern you? Sure, they could still win the division with a record of 2-14, but they hardly look like a team capable of winning a playoff game. Some pretty big single player performances today. Alexander and LT both went off like it was the 4th of July! Also, to the 2 of you who I tried to trade Dillon to this past week, my anemic WR starters netted 4 TDs (although much of the credit here goes to the Packers even more anemic D) and even my bench produced a TD (Chatman of all people). And if my eyes don't betray me, the WRs I tried to trade for did jack (except for 1, who will remain nameless), as did the crappy RBs ya'll were forced to play. So ha!! |

Well, with my expectations being so low on the Packers this season anyway, when I say I'm not worried, it means that A) the division is weak and everyone sucks, and B) if they don't win another game this season they will get a good draft pick for Sherman to screw up on, and C) if they don't win another game, I'm not going to be that disappointed because I wasn't expecting much anyway. I'm totally in denial though. |

One more thing, the Packers played WAY BETTER against the Bucs than the Vikings did. The Packers missed an extra point and a field goal that would have given them the lead. They played good enough that they could have won that game, and they were in the game up until the very end. Just a thought. |

Now that you packer fans have had a run at the board, let me get some things in. First of all, Matt and I were able to watch both games, though of course we focused mostly on the Vikings game. We saw two calls that benefitted the Packers big time. One was the offensive interference that was actually called defensive interference on the Bucs. Later, on the interception near the end of the game that the Packers got, he totally hit the receiver early. So, there may have been some bad calls, but they happened both ways. |

Bollinger might get to start for the Jets! My head2head teams went 2-1 this week. I had one team that had 6 WR TDs (Galloway, McCardell, and Llyod) which was crucial in defeating C. Johnson, Wayne, and S. Smith combined 5 TDS. I have no idea what your second of all point is. |

While I see your point Jon, both those calls were of the variety that could have gone either way. Look at the interception this way: if a player is "going for the ball" aka, "playing the ball", bumping the reciever early isn't an automatic pass interference as it would be if he just flat out hit him early. Carrol caught the ball, and therefore the judgement was that he was "playing the ball" and therefore he has the same right as the reciever. Ok, so I won't say that it definitely was clean, but it was a "could have gone either way" type of play. The same with offensive interference. If every team in the league can get away with offensive interference, the Packers should be no different. Now, here's where the calls against the Packers differ. Aaron Kampman hit the QB about a half a step after he got rid of the ball, and watching the replay, it was obvious that he was not trying to pile drive him or anything. It was on 3rd down, and the Bucs went on to score a td on that drive. The fumble by Greise on the other hand was like if a baseball player takes a full swing and the ump calls it a ball. I don't understand where the dispute is. The ball came out of his hand before he even brought his arm past his chest. He wasn't hit, he wasn't throwing, he just dropped the ball, and the ref called it an incomplete pass. It wasn't like he missed a holding call or didn't count 12 men on the field. I'm trying not to be too biased, but when it comes to "close calls" like pass interefence things, that's one thing. And besides, after all the cheap calls against Ahmad Carrol (hands to the face penalties for hitting a guy in the numbers twice in one game), I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt every once in a while. But then again, I'm a Packer fan and any and all calls against the Packers are ligit |

Brewers got back to .500 with a win against the Reds 12-9. With that win, the Brewers move into a tie with the Twins at 78-78. Isn't that crazy? The Brewers might actually have a better season than the Twins. |

I'll go against Green Bay until they win. Tampa might be good. I have no idea. I really have nothing to say.Matt

Hopefully Tampa Bay will go undefeated this year and then not be able to play for the championship because they didn't get enough votes. That would be a great joke to play on Carnell Williams. Quick, Tampa Bay: in our division or not?Sarah
Eeeee, what's going on? All these bad starts to a season, it kind of takes the fun out of football. It just seemed like we should've won last week. With chants of "Reggie" in the background, a miracle seemed possible. We fell short. I think the communication is a little off. Did u see the play with Ferguson and Favre? I could've sworn Favre was gonna run, and Fergie thought so too, so he turned to block for him and then Favre threw it to him! Never mind the fact that Bubba was wide open in the end zone. Sigh. Tampa Bay is either just sneaking in a few wins or they're actually good. I can't pick against my team for a while, not until they actually need the win. (see last year)
