Packers 28 @ Commanders 14 |
JeremyTime for all you Packer fans that drank the "special" kool-aid to get your stomachs pumped. If the Packer’s win this one, and the Vikings lose at Indy next week, then things could get interesting going into the biggest scheduling screw job of recent memory. Grady Jackson seems to have made an improvement, but the Cowboys also can’t run on anyone. We’ll see if Portis can bring Cris Brown’s super powered stiff arm.
MattWashington 28 - Green Bay 13
JonPacker fans are getting confident. About what, I'm not sure. Washington and Bush in a close one. Two separate things.
Sarah"Since voters elected Franklin Roosevelt to his first of four terms in 1932, the Redskins have forecasted the next President. Over the past 18 elections, a Redskins win the weekend before Election Day has preceded a win by the incumbent party. On the other hand, a Redskins loss before the vote has preceded a loss by the incumbent party."So I am rooting for Green Bay for more than one reason. LaVar Arrington is hurt so he can't try and take out Favre again, which is good. OOO this game has such huge implications, the packers just gotta win, they just gotta! Don't forget to vote November 2nd though, just in case. Kerry for President! On another note, my thoughts are with the Favre family, they just seem to have bad things happen to them all of the time. |

Jon49ers at Bears...It's FANtastic!
SarahChicago is down to like their 3rd string QB, I don't even know the guy's name. Nor do I care. This is the Sunday night game? Sorry 'bout dat. Da Bears. |
Dolphins 14 @ Jets 41 |
JeremyMiami got a big win last week which I don’t think anyone, worthwhile, saw coming. Seriouswe though guys, I heard that Miami had to pull out every trick play in the book to get the win. Which poses the question why don’t teams just do that every game? In order to run that many trick plays the other team had to be watching and waiting for a trick play and they still couldn’t do anything about it. The desperate team that pulls out all the stops ALWAYS wins, so why not play like that ALL the time?
MattJets 22 - Dolphins 21
JonI thought the Jets would put up big passing numbers this year. But with Curtis Martin, they haven't had to.
SarahThe longest game in NFL history, or something like that. Miami is coming off their first win of the season (sorry bout that) But, people are saying this is the worst 5-1 team they have seen. I don't know, I try to not watch AFC games unless forced. We'll see how this ends up.How 'bout them red sox? |

I was bored, so I put this together. Obviously it doesn't mean anything because the Packers are still losing, but it isn't their offense that's the problem whatsoever.

Wow, that was some mangled code. As a rule of thumb no HTML unless you have some idea what you're doing. :) The "screw job" was the fact that going into the Packer Viking game the Vikings are coming off of a Monday night game (the shortest week you can have, other than going into a thursday night game, in which both teams are even) when the Packers are coming off of their bye. |

Vote for Bush! The "screw job" isn't that big of a deal. You're just making excuses already cause you know the Vikings are going dizzoun! :) Every team has to play a team coming off its bye week and one extra day isn't that big of a deal. By this point of the season chemistry should be all worked out and players shouldn't be wearing out too much, so one less day of rest and/or practice shouldn't matter. Vote for Bush! I won't stop drinking the special kool-aid until the Packers lose, i.e. never!! Vote for Bush! BUF, GB, DET, JAX, CIN, INDY, NYG, TO, SEA, DEN, PIT, SD, SF, NYJ Vote for Bush! The Bear's QB is Krenzel. He played for Ohio State and lead them to a national championship. Much love for Big Ten alumni once they make the pros. Vote for Bush! Did I say until the Packers lose? I meant the Badgers. w00t! Vote for Bush! I'll probably watch much football this weekend since I have the pager from my development team this week and subsequently can't go galavanting across the state or staying out all night drinking special kool-aid. Vote for Bush! Okay that last paragraph was a just an excuse to do this: Vote for Bush! one more time. Vote for Bush! |

I was gonna vote for Bush, then I realized I might go to hell somehow if God implicates me as one of his accomplishes that killed thousands of people durring his tyrannical reign. Oh well, at least he wasn't getting BLOW JOBS in office, my God you can get impeached for that kind of behavior! But yea, vote for Bush if you don't feel any moral obligations to yourself or to humanity and just care because he says he will lower taxes and further take the US into debt, seems to be the growing trend among republicans. First of all, I don't know how much you want to discuss these subjects in this particular forum, so if you wish to move it a new blog or somewhere else go ahead. But I need say this. At least Bush doesn't support abortion. War is one thing, I have no religious beliefs that would keep me from joining the military to defend my country. There are a number of memebers from my church body that are in or have been to Iraq. Killing babies is quite another thing. The only way I could in good conscience even attempt to consider the possibility of an abortion on a child of mine is if it came down to a choice between the life of the baby and my wife. And I don't mean kill the baby cause my wife might die, I wouldn't do that. I only mean if there was some medical situation in that there was no possible way for both of them to survive (of which I don't think there are many, if any) and it came down to picking one of the two. That would be a hard decision that would require lots of prayer. So as far as moral obligations go, definite egde for Bush. As far as the US into debt goes, that's what tends to happen during a war. Which comes back to moral obligations again? Should the US police the world? No one can say that Saddam's regime was morally correct (while they could I guess, but then I would completely disagree with their morals). That's something much more complicated then abortion though, and I'm not sure where I stand on that. I think going to war in Iraq was ok, but the way it was done was not the best. Kerry is flat-out terrible. Everything he has said about the war has been totally negative, he supports abortion, government-run health care sounds like a totally bad (Communist even?) idea to me, he himself has been deceiving voters (saying that Bush might bring back the draft after Bush had explicitly said in one of the debates that he wouldn't even consider it), his foreign policy of regaining trust and such sounds good at first but the more he talks about it the more you realize that's all he would do about anything is talk talk talk talk. Also, has Bush actually said that he plans on lowering taxes or just Kerry's plans would require massive tax increases? I'm not really sure. And I don't know what (environment, etc.) means, so no comment on that I guess. Also, if you're volunteering to have your taxes raised to pay off the national debt go right ahead and send the IRS some extra cash. I won't object. |

Did I just hear someone try to red-bait Kerry. Regarding the draft, heres some wisdom from the Onion: "I'd rather have a guy who flip-flops on sending my son to die than a guy whos dead set on killing him" Just thought I'd lighten the mood and not talk about babies (or not-babies, depending on your point of view) |

Is anyone else channel flipping and happened to catch TO's touchdown dance? He did an imitation of Ray Lewis' celebration dance. I think TO's confidence and swagger is what the Eagles need to get over the hump (not that I want them to). Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Giants scored one more TD? Ouch The Vikes beat the crap out of themselves like only they can. Not that it takes away from your win, but, #1 look at the offenses Washington has played so far, #2 Yards mean DIDDILY POO, the Vikings had more yards than Washington today. It can't be a good thing when you give up 34 points and your D actually plays well. |

Looking back at these comments is kinda funny cause you guys had some comments about the first half of the Packers game but no one has commented yet on how the Washington football team was within one call (which the announcers seemed to imply was fairly bogus) of taking the lead with just over two minutes. I'm not trying to be cocky about it, after all you guys got the W and the Vikings didn't, but it's funny that the domination talk sort of just ended after about 1:30. |

In all honesty, I started watching the Ravens-Eagles game more when it looked like the Packers would roll. I saw the controversial call, and from the replay they have of the play it really wasn't clear to me if the RB was indeed moving forward at the snap. It's a crappy camera angle from the endzone somewhere facing the offense. It looks close, but I don't know if it was the right call. Since I wasn't watching every snap I'm not sure what happened. It looked like they got pretty conservative on offense when it was still 20-7. And that last interception, seriously, what the poop was Ferguson doing? It was one of those plays where you have single coverage so just launch it up there. The ball may have been just slightly underthrown, but Ferguson looked like he wasn't even trying to do anything. He didn't try to make the catch, he didn't try to stop the defender from making the catch, I don't think he was even looking when the ball got there. I hope someone chews him out for that one. And all I said in the first half was that offense was on, which it was at that point, and that Packers seem to win when they score first and get a lead, which they do. |

Well, the domination did end with the first half. About that call that took the go ahead touchdown off the board for Washington. It was a procedure call, which means the flag is thrown right at the snap. Those kind of flags aren't quite the controversy as say a pass interference or something during the play, because it has nothing to do with the actual play itself. Does that make sense? It's not an "in the heat of the moment" kind of call like holding or PI or illegal contact, it's a "definition of illegal motion" kind of a call. For the record I do think the Packers caught a break, but that score wouldn't have sealed the win. Think of it as the recount that will decide the election in favor of John Kerry=) |

Sarah... Your statement "...specifically said I wasn't going to make a comment on the call" well I certainly can't find where you specifically say that, but it was probably in your thoughts Scott...I don't see how that makes the call any less controversial. And the fact that the domination talk ended because the "domination" ended was kind of my point. It obviously wasn't quite enough domination or big enough of an early lead to "seal" the victory...though the Packers did win in the end. |
Scott - 6225 Posts 11/01/2004 @ 12:31:22 PM |

who said anything about "sealing" the victory. The Game was never over at any point in the first half or 3rd quarter or most of the 4th quarter. The fact is, the Packers did put more yards up in the 1st half than the redskins have given up per game all year. That was pretty dominating. That domination ended in the 2nd half, but the Packers still did what they needed to do to win. About the call, i'm not calling it a non-issue call, but it isn't like some of the phantom pass interference calls that happen so often. The receiver went in motion and turned towards the line of scrimmage before the snap. All of this is fine except that the receiver never came to a stop or became "set". By definition, that is illegal motion: an offensive player moving toward the line of scrimmage prior to the snap without re-setting. It may have been a "ticky-tacky" call for anyone rooting for the redskins, but it was probably the correct call. If I'm a ref and I see that happen, it's not even a judgement call. It is THE call. If the play would have resulted in a 1 yard run into the line, no one would say anything. Why then is it a wrong call if it took away a touchdown, seeing as how the penalty happened before or right at the snap? |

Giants 34 @ Vikings 13
Jeremy
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I’m not a fan of the Giants. Even though Viking fans care about one one-millionth as much about the 41-0 game as people assume we do it still sucked. Since that point the Giants just have our number. The mid season skid last year began with the Giants game, which we had in the bag until we blocked a punt, which is usually a good thing, but not if you’re cursed. I’m going to be wearing a purple pimp costume to this game so watch for me on TV.Matt

As a Minnesota fan, honestly this one kind of scares me. Well maybe not scares me, but I don't think it's in the bag.Sarah
The Giants own the Vikings. I can feel a spooky loss for the Vikes. A ghoulish loss. A spine-chilling loss. Yay for Halloween. It's an often over-looked holiday that's quite fun. Dressing up is cool. Plus, my birthday is the day before. ;) Oh right, football. Yea, I think the Giants have it in them to beat the vikings, so I am going to go out on a limb and vote for them!
