Dolphins 13 @ Bengals 16 |
JeremyI could not have less to say about this game. Other than does it even matter to Dolphin fans if it's Fiedler or Feely let alone the rest of the country?
MattDoes Miami sucking now mean that they'll be good in December? Should Cincinnati be starting Jon Kitna instead of Carson Palmer? Answers: Yes, and Yes.Cincinnati 23 - Miami 13
JonMiami?...winning?...I'm not too sure about that. Cincinnati should take this one. Hey remember when Ricky Williams retired? That was wild. You should always make major life decisions based on, and possibly under the influence of, marijuana. (That was facetiousness kids, just say no. And stay in school.)
SarahMy bungles play Sunday night! The Dolphins are screwed all year, so I just can't see them winning this week. Carson Palmer looked impressive, at least his stats did, I didn't really get to see much of him actually playing. Ricky Williams is stupid. 'Nuff said. Well, actually, I did see an interview that had his teammates talking about people who did drugs, and you could just see the murderous rage in their eyes. It was humorous. |
Vikings 16 @ Eagles 27 |
JeremyThe Vikings defense was scary in the first half Sunday. Unfortunately I mean scary for me to watch. Luckily the Vikes scored all but two times they touched the ball (One of which was to kneel out the game.) The Eagles scored a lot of points as well, but their secondary is questionable.I don't have a good feeling about this one, in fact I almost made Page 3 history as the first one to take off their homer hat (which we have under the turbans), but the Eagles aren't going 16-0 and we have a better chance than most to take them. 90-78 Vikings.
MattDaunte Culpepper for Cy Young!!!! Sorry, that's Johan Santana for Cy Young, Daunte Culpepper for MVP!!!Minnesota 56 - Philadelphia 32 P.S. Kids, you should also remember to say your prayers and take your vitamins.
JonLast week was the opening argument for Daunte Culpepper's case for NFL MVP. The exhibits continue Monday in Philadelphia. Now, some other things...Fantasy Football, a topic I will rarely bring up in this space, has RUINED football for me... RUINED IT! Randy Moss, Daunte Culpepper...they're not on my team...I want to be happy for the touchdowns they score but...they're not on my team. Hopefully this will get better as the season goes on. Before the season began I felt the Eagles just plain looked too good on paper. You know what I mean? They were good and then added Owens, so they should win basically every game right? But the Lakers should have never lost, nor should this year’s Cubs. My point?...I could be wrong about that whole "too good" thing...or, last week’s runaway win by the eagles might have just been an aberration; a win against a weak team. Either way, don't skip work to grab a spot on the TO/McNabb bandwagon just yet. Oh yeah, by the way, Randy Moss is the best receiver in the NFL, and I don't even think it's as close as people make it out to be. Kids, eat your vegetables too.
SarahBattle of the Titans. Oh wait no, they play the Colts. :) Ha. No really, this should be a good game. I am anxious to see it. It should be interesting to see who comes out on top. Because the game is being played in Philly, I am gonna give them the one up. I hope McNabb has an awesome game, I need more fantasy points. Word up. |

Jon, the over-under comment......gold. The McKenzie thing.....I think was waiting until they played the first game and was going to come out and make a statement, but then the Packers came out and Dominated the Panthers and McKenzie's like, "oh crap, now this just looks desperate", but he came out anyway (of his holdout, not the closet. this is how rumors start.) I like the fact that he's back. I couldn't imagine playing teams like the Colts or the Vikings or the Eagles with Al Harris and Michael Hawthorne as the only guys with experience at cornerback. Apparently Grady Jackson isn't hurt as bad as originally thought. The first prediction was that he'd miss up to 2 months, but now they're saying it could be as little as 2 weeks. That's good news for the Packers. Acquiring Grady Jackson last yeaer very much solidified a struggling run defense. Hopefully the Packers can survive without him for a couple weeks. The Bears are this weeks victims of the BEST offensive line in the NFL blocking one of the best backs in the NFL. Seriously, the Bears lost to the Lions (well, so did the Packers last year), this game could get ugly. Packers 38, Bears 13. Eagles in a close one, 29-24 |

I was unable to watch the game, but I listened to some of it on the radio. As far as I can tell A) The Packer's defense sucked. B) Farve sucked and the receivers dropped half the passes he didn't overthrow. C) The game was pretty much decided by one play. If Green scores instead of coughing up the rock, it's a 17-14 win (okay, that's assuming the rest of the game goes the same, but at that point it's 10-3 and the Packers probably win). Every since Reggie White retired, the Packers have never been able to put together much of a defensive line. Since they can't seem to draft anyone worth anything (besides Holliday), it will probably take a big name free agent to change things up (preferably someone who doesn't get hurt, I won't name names). Ok, now I have to hit up ESPN.com and see what else happened today. |

actually, favre didn't play that bad, other than the last int he didn't do much wrong. Favre's first int wasn't really that bad of a play. It was a bomb that Mike Brown made a spectacular diving catch on. The key play was definitely greens fumble. But the Packers could not stop the bears running game. that I think was the biggie. |

With a 7 team league it's ridiculous that we have a combined 8 starting players in one game. Since that's the case, I hope both QB's get injured and then the backups get into a shootout, and the Eagles triple team Moss so Gus has to throw to Robinson all the time. Don't rule out the Panthers and Jake just yet. That division is weak: Tampa Bay 0-2, Deuce is hurt, how far can Vick take the Falcons? Plus, Foster showed that his success last year wasn't a fluke. Could KC be any worse? I'm thinking about going and trying out for WR for them since they have basically no one (healthy anyway). And the defense is at least as bad as last year. Baltimore rebounded nicely. Jacksonville, Atlanta, and the Jets are looking to shift the power within their divisions. Pending the outcome of tonight's game, the closest division battles (it's only Week 2, I know) look like the NFC East (if Eagles lose), NFC North (if Vikings lose), AFC North, and AFC West. Wisconsin pulled out a close win Saturday. I was willing to give them a few weeks, but they need to get the offense rolling now, 4 sho. |

that ball was uncatchable, but the shove by moss was unecessary, so I don't know if it was a good call or not. Man, the vikings are shooting themselves in the foot with penalties. |

If by shooting themselves in the foot you mean there have been like 3 phantom calls that either took points off the board for the vikes or added for the eagles then i agree. Oh, and TO almost caught that touchdown....good call refs. I'm not saying Daunte didn't fumble that, but the fact that 90% of his body was in the endzone combined with the fact that the ball was a nanometer away not even drawing a review just shows you how awfully one sided the officials have been. Thanks to the officials for starting the screw job early so I don't have to get my hopes up. |

The refs just threw a flag that would help the vikes...then they saw it might help them so they picked it up. |

Don't even try to blame the refs. I'll admit that I was surprised when they ruled TO caught the ball, because I didn't even think it was close to a catch when I first saw it. But 100% of the blame for that falls on the Vikings for not challenging the call. I mean seriously, whoever they have in the booth watching the replay needs to be fired immediately. Tice threw the flag twice just to talk the officials (is that legal?), but he didn't whip it out on that play? Secondly, the referees upstairs where actually watching the game (hey there's an idea) when they didn't stop play for 5 minutes just so they could watch the replay 20 more times. The percentage of his body in the endzone has nothing to do with, it was clear after watching the replay once or twice (which takes about 20 seconds) that it wasn't a TD and wouldn't be overruled. The only thing I can remember that was may be a legit screwing, was on the play where there was a flag downfield but then Culpepper got sacked. I'm not sure what the flag was for, but it was probably defensive holding and I'm guessing they ruled that it was after the sack. However, on the very next play I don't how in the world it wasn't intentional grounding when Culpepper was pretty much exactly in the middle of the field, with a Eagle pulling him down, and then he just chucked in downfield landing not within 15 yards of a Viking. I think that was maybe a makeup call. Regardless, the Vikings couldn't do anything on defense, and there was always at least one Eagle in Culpepper's face, particularly in the second half. The way the Eagles are playing right now, they'll be tough to beat if they stay healthy. Kearse had a great game (even if it was against the backup lineman) but he has a history of injuries. They also aren't very deep at running back. But all in all they looked very good, while the Vikings looked a lot like they did last year. Culpepper should do some hand strenght exercises. 70 fumbles in 60 games or something like that. |

ESPN couldnt even cue up the replay before the extra point. The eagles scored the first td after a bogus pass interfernce call, the vikes had one called back on a non existsnt hold, and the moss offensive PI was a sack of crap, the ball was uncatchable and it was just as much defensive since you cant stop in front of a WR. I can complain all I want if we can have 20 posts about a legit facemask call in the packer game last week. |

the thing is I guess, that every single call seems to be slanted in an evil plot to make the vikings lose. The Packers were victims of 2 15-yard facemask penalties in the carolina game that were AT BEST 5 yarders and each cost the packers a touchdown. But I'm just glad we can agree that we are both allowed to complain about the refs, even if they don't actually decide the outcome of the game. |

Bears 21 @ Packers 10
Jeremy
Chicago is bad and Green Bay owns their sorry asses. If the Packers lose this one the season could get ugly fast.Ahman had quite the clinic in Carolina, who officially have one year wonder written all over them, especially Jakey. The bears will obviously try to do something about that so Favre and the 3 dynamos might have to show up to the game this time.
Matt
Both these teams suck.Chicago 17 - Green Bay 16
Jon
It's the most historic matchup in football! Oh...that's interesting...I guess...Why should I care about that? The over under on times the announcers mention this fact is 17. This is exaclty the kind of game the packers lose, but I don't feel like going out on a limb for that one.Sarah
Such a classic rivalry. I am missing a bobblehead day for this, and a cool one at that. However, bobbleheads rank sooooo below football it's not even funny. I was impressed with the Packers, and I hope the rest of America was too. The Packers own the Bears. Favre has only lost like twice to Da Bears, and that's like out of 24 games or so. Sweet. I'll take those odds any day of the week. As much as I like MNF games, nothing beats a good noon game. You don't have to wait the whole day or an extra day to watch the game. You wake up, watch some pregame stuff and then GAME ON! McKenzie decided to come back, I am not sure why. It may be because he missed the money or because he saw how rockin' awesome we were. Either way, I am glad he's back and I hope everyone can put everything in the past. Bring it on!
