Packers 16 @ Texans 13 |
JeremySomeone tell Houston they shouldn't even try because in the end the refs will give the game to Green Bay anyway. Two ref decisions two weeks in a row is the (likely) difference between a 3 game lead for the Vikings and a tie for first. It's Jamie Sharper (who plays for the Texans) vs. his "I'm the biggest no-talent-ass-clown jackass in the NFL" brother.Correct me if I'm wrong (I didn't actually look) but so far the Packers and Vikings, who have virtually identical schedules, have won, and lost, against all their same common opponents. The Vikes already beat NO and the Pack beat Carolina so the season could come down to the Packers St. Louis game and the Vikings Seattle game. The Vikes beat the holy living crap out of the Seahawks last season. Remind me again how the Packers have faired against the Rams recently. | |

SarahLet's keep the streak going, a'ight? Sweet. Can anyone else believe that it's almost Thanksgiving? Freakin' awesome.A little subplot here Jamie Sharper vs Darren Sharper. At least that Fox announcer won't be announcing this ESPN game otherwise I may have had to scream. |

Yeah, the UWEC Page 3 was central time. When we moved to spiralppages it was in EST so I had to correct for that. Now it's in like GMT or something. Ill see about fixing it tonight. |

Just for the record the Lions have been missing their #1 receiver since Week 1, so the Vikings aren't really playing the Lions entire starting offense. Oh yah, and their now #1 receiver is still working on coming off an ankle injury, and their would be number 2 receiver Az-Hakim is also out. Oh yah, and their next best receiver Tai Streets is Questionable with a hamstring injury. So the Lions may be down to their preseason number 2, 5, and 6 receivers. And if the Vikings lose to that kind of mess in Minnesota, they have serious issues. Also, Sharper is a clown. |

I think thst's the closest "best receiver" and "Tai Streets" have ever been in a paragraph. At least they have Williams (the best) and their starting running back. Everyone gets to play them without Rodgers so that is immaterial. |

so much for "even without moss, the vikings receiving corps is better than the packers" Jacksonville, Cleveland, Dallas, Minnesota, New Orleans, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indy, Carolina, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, NY Giants, Philly, Green Bay, England of the New world. Not too many insightful picks this week. 12 of the 16 games this week are picked identically by the page 3 staff. |

And William Henderson. Even if you're not a Packer fan, please vote him in as ur Pro Bowl full back. This year he actually has numbers and he's deserved to go for the last 10 years and this may be his last year to go as a Packer so please please please go vote for him. It would make me really happy. :) |

The Pro Bowl is super lame. So is Kevin Jones. Drafting Walker is probably the best personnel move Sherman has made. There were quite a few more recognizable receivers still available when they pulled Walker out of the shadows. He may be the one reason Farve sticks around a little longer. How have you not played hl2 at all? Don't u at least want to try it out? Although I was pretty devestated last Saturday, I've decided to pull myself together in the hopes of a trip to the Rose Bowl. Go Ohio State! This will be a real test for Stocco. He needs to bounce back strong. So does the defense, but they're mostly seniors so it's not as big of a deal long term. |

Well, the Buckeyes did their part. Stocco first two passes were way off though. Not good. And the botched field goal also no good. I have a feeling this game will go to the wire. |

Since no one has commented on this yet, ya'll either live in a cardboard box or just plain don't care. But I'll toss out my 2 cents anyway. Artest is suspened for the rest of the season, Jackson for 30 games, O'Neal for 25, and Big Ben for 6 (that's without pay). I'm glad to see that Stern decided to hand some serious punishments for that. I think all 4 of those suspensions are bordering on too long though. I just hope that the fans who were out of line get punished severly too (although some of them already got part of their punishment, a punch to the face). I read some user comments on ESPN and the range of opinions suprised me. Some people blamed the fans entirely, some people blamed the players, some blamed security. I think it was a combination of all three. Obviously the players crossed the line by going into the stands. There's no excuse for that. And security was letting fans out onto the floor, which can't happen. The fans though, the ones involved not all of them, were wayyyy out of line as well. I'm tired of people not expecting athletes to ever retaliate when they are constantly bombarded by insults. People say athletes are supposed to be professionals and act all nice and perfect like role models all the time. Yet, it's somehow a fan's natural right to be a completely unrespectful, nasty, insulting, using profanity, probably had too many to drink, downright filthy jerk? When children could be sitting right behind him? Talk about a double standard. |

I think blaming the security is unfair. The "security" at these sporting events are 5'4" 18 year old girls. No one could have been prepared for that and it would take a secuity staff that would take up half the building to truley defend against this stuff. I don't blame the fans for going wherever they need to go to get out of the way. I do think the fans played a bigger part than people are blaming them for. I also think giving Wallace a suspension is BS. Shoves like that happen all the time and just because Artest then blew his top doesn't mean Wallace should be blamed for "starting it". I think the suspensions were harsh, but they needed to make an example of. They also need to somehow make public examples of the fans. There is so much emotion involved and the players are in a very vounerable position. It might not always be water. |

These players are just punks. There's really nothing else anyone can say that would make me think any different. Punks! Wallace did say that he wished to contact Artest to apologize, but I think his supension is just, I don't think his shove was the typical frustration shove. It looked pretty angry. |

On the brawl topic: I agree with Jeremy (for once). You can't really blame security. Once it got into melee mode there wasn't much they could have done. While the fans do share some blame, especially whoever threw the first drink at Artest, he should have never gone into the stands. All he had to do was call down security and let them take care of it. Security could have handled escorting a few fans out of the arena, but by going into the stands he made the situation uncontrolable for all involved. |

The fact that he "looked angry" doesn't mean crap. Things like that happen all the time in the NBA (KG getting sucker elbowed across the face, ect) without 6 game suspensions. Artests suspension was a bit harsh. Jacksons was too lenient. Tonights game was the most pathetic rushing game I think I have ever seen. The Texans get like a first down in the 4th quarter and worst case senerio it goes to OT. Is there some rule some where that says the Packers have to get the ball last no matter what the circumstances? Where does Mooch's call to accept a penalty giving the Vikes 3rd and 12 instead of 4th and 2 and give them another shot at the endzone rank amongst the dumbest calls ever? Even if he knew 100% that the Vikings were going for it on 4th down you're still giving them a free play and then the 4th down you were sure they would use anyway. Has he not watched films? When we need 1 yard to keep a drive going we will call the lowest percentage go for it all play we can find. How bad is Detroit when their special teams have put up 21 (and essentially 23) points in the last 2 games and they lost both. Did anyone notice that we didn't see one replay of any personal fouls or other such shoving matches in the GB game? There was the pair of offsetting personal fouls (which of course always benefits GB somehow) that nullified a great punt yet they were barely mentioned and not shown. Think theres a reason for that? |

it's official, Green Bay is better overall than the vikings. The Packers now have more Yards per game on Offense, and have always had a better defense. Oh yeah, 5 wins in a row and first place are nice too. Oh and the "looked angry" comment wasn't about Wallace himself, it was about the shove. That was about as violent a shove as you can get, he came running from about the out of bounds line to the freethrow line and hit artest with quite a bit of force. 6 games maybe was a bit stiff, but you gotta make an example out these guys. Basketball was never meant to be hockey. The reason for the replay thing is that the Packers are indeed paying the league to make them look like golden boys. And all penalties are supposed to help the Packers, I mean, they both start with the letter "P", so something has to be up with that. And that last kick, the NFL turned on the jumbo fans from the right side when the kick looked like it was heading right, but they worked and the kick was good. Ah monday morning. |

I guess Jeremy must be forfeiting in the fantasy league since he started Hasselbeck this week. Between Buffalo's D and my defensive back from Buffalo, I racked up 47.5 points. Good thing too cause my only other double digit scorer was Manning, and possibly Givens tonight yet (he has averaged 14 points per game in his last 4 games). |

I was trying to choose between 3 qbs, one had a broken thumb, one was making his first career start, and one was playing one of the league's worst passing defenses. Well, the latter did the worst, and the first of the 3 did the best. go figure, and guess who I started, yeah, the one with the least risk who turned out doing the worst. |

Lions 19 @ Vikings 22
Jeremy
Moss is still out and Detroit always gives them fits. This could be tough, especially since, unlike some teams, we have to play against their actual starting offense, rather than Harrington and who ever happened to be the first fans into the stadium.I know he'll look like Joe Montana this week but seriously have you ever been impressed, for more than perhaps 30 second increments, by Harrington?
This is perhaps one more in the L column before they run the table, but to be fair, it was their toughest 3 games and was without Moss and 2 of them were last second field goals and one of them they got the Joan Collins special at the end of.
Matt

Let's go Detriot! Oh wait, I don't want either of these teams to win, since we're all kind of tied for first, although the Pack do have the tie breaker. :)
