Seahawks 24 @ 49ers 17 |
JeremyIf Seattle loses the Vikes and Packers are in. The Vikings, however, control their own destiny, as such I'd prefer Seattle wins and Dallas loses and the Packers watch from home. | |
MattMerry Christmas! | |
JonYou don't have to be Don Francisco to know that the 49ers have the edge in this one. Although it would be more of an edge if it were played on Sunday. | |
SarahThis game is very vital to the Packers. Seattle MUST lose. I think after coming off from their upset with over the Eagles, the 49ers will want to come home and show their division "rival" how it's done. The 49ers have been quite the roller coaster ride this year, with their season ending effectively after this game because of it. Since the Seahawks have been very weak on the road, I am hoping the 49ers can eliminate them from the playoff run. |
Eagles 31 @ Commanders 7 |
JeremyDonovan F. McNabb wishes everyone young and old a Merry F. Christmas. | |
MattKiss my ass | |
JonAhh, Philadelphia. You know, Denzel Washington was in a movie called Philadelphia. So they're the pick. But again, they should play this on Sunday. | |
SarahWow! Did Philly get the wind knocked out of them or what last week??? So much for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I'm not sure if that's set in stone, if St. Louis loses and the Eagles win, then the Eagles will get the #1 seed. But, since the Rams are playing in Detroit, I just can't see that happening. Spurrier has not had a really great season that's for sure. Will he be around next year? |
Vikings 17 @ Cardinals 18 |
JeremyThis one is for all the marbles, Arizona upset the Packers earlier so this one isn't a gimmie. That said, 57-3 Vikings. | |
MattKiss his ass | |
JonIt would sure be a great present to all their fans if Minnesota could win this one. It would give birth to a new season, known as the playoffs. Vikings 22-0. | |
SarahOk, ok. Very anxious about this game. It will be on FOX the same time the Pack are on CBS, I will be flipping over to Channel 3 ever so often to see how the Vikings are doing. But, think about it. The Packers and Vikings have lost to some of the worst teams in the league: Raiders, Bears, Chargers, Lions, and Cardinals. They've also beaten some of the best teams in the league as well. So, following tradition, I think that maybe, just maybe, the Vikings could lose at Arizona. But, I picked them to win anyway just to jinx them. |
Broncos 3 @ Packers 31 |
JeremyLuckily for Green Bay, Denver has nothing to play for. As such they will be resting many key players. Keep that in mind those of you in your fantasy super bowls who plan on starting Clinton Portis. | |
MattKiss your ass | |
JonYear after year, is there a better running team than Denver? | |
SarahOh man. Everyone who watched the MNF game witnessed the finest playing of the sport. It was incredible. Favre was throwing passes into double and triple coverage, and the wide receivers were catching them like they were just throwing balls around in the backyard. It was a truly amazing performance, not just by Favre, but by every Packer player on the field. I think the adrenaline and togetherness from that game will spill over onto the last game of the season against the Broncos. They have a mission now, and I think they will succeed. Plus it doesn't hurt that the Broncos may be resting a lot of their key players. GO PACK GO! |
Steelers 10 @ Ravens 13 |
JeremyAl and John (Michaels and Madden, ha) kept reiterating like 1000 times that this game would determine the 3 way tie-breaker should Seattle and Green Bay win and Dallas lose. They always neglected to mention what the outcome of this game would need to be for the Packers to be out. I'm not sure who to root for here. Anybody? Anybody? Bueller? | |
MattHappy Hanukkah | |
JonYou know, after being born in Virginia, spending years in New Jersey, and eventually working in Washington, D.C., Woodrow Wilson might be a Baltimore Ravens fan if he were alive today. Naturally, Baltimore should win by...you guessed it, Fourteen Points. | |
SarahOk, for some reason this game is also vital to the playoff picture if the Packers, Seahawks, and Cowboys all tie. The Ravens have been doing pretty well this season, and they want to win the AFC North division pretty badly. I really want the Bungles (can I call them that still?) to win, but the Ravens are in control. Poor Steelers, so many teams took a few steps backwards this season and the Steelers were one of them. I can't believe it's the end of the regular season, only a little more than a month of football left, and then what will I do with my time? Huh? Huh? |

Damn 49ers screwing us over AGAIN. Christmas Eve I had the pleasure of watching the NFC Wild Card Game of 98 on the ESPN. Ruined my Xmas. Bastards! But that was quite the catch by that 49er on 3rd down. Too bad nothing came from it. |

From what I understand about the strength of victory tiebreaker (and believe me, i understand very little) there are 9 games today that will factor in that equation. |

Every team is playing just to screw the Packers. Cowboys blow. Also, I know we would be tied with the Seahawks and Cowboys if we win and Vikings win, but why would they get to go and we would have to stay? I mean I know why, but come on! We beat the Seahawks during the regular season. This whole system sucks. Lets go Pack, and Cards! |

Team A and Team B are tied at the end of the regular season. Team A beats Team B during the season. Team B goes to the playoffs instead of Team A. Ummmmm.....I think the BCS makes more sense than this. |

Actually he didnt catch it. They can't reveiw a force out and the refs knew they would catch hell, you could tell when he went to say the final thing and said "You can't review a force out". The Vikings got screwed by the refs again. What a surprise. |

Pool(oops) got one foot in on the ground, and his other foot was on the viking defender's knee before he fell out of bounds. It was a good call by the rule. Screwed again? Does that fumble against KC ring a bell? Green Bay played pretty well too, eh. |

Oh my! It was a push out, I saw it with my own eyes. Here I was feeling sorry for myself because the Packers were playing so well and I thought it was for nothing. YES! Seahawks are going down! |

it was NOT a push out! his first foot barley made it in and his other foot was waaay out. We beat KC 45-20, I wouldn't say we weren't screwed because of a call in that game. You guys needed help, and you got it. It was just from the guys in stripes, not the guys in red. That entire drive was courtesy of the refs. A 40 yard ticky tack PI call and that bullshit force out. This is beats the Yancy Thigpen play as the lamest was a team ever won the division...and imagine that, it was the packers both times. Oh yeah and GB did a great job beating up on the broncos 8th string. |

Push outs are for when a guy is clearly (like one yard in) and way up in the air and then is carried out of the field by a defender. Not for when he's 2 inches on and not close. |

LOL LOL LOL all the way to the playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ps It WAS MOST DEFINITELY a push-out. I watched the game with a cowboy fan and 3 broncos fans (in other words, packers haters), and they all agreed that it was a push out. Josh McNown for MVP!! |

He was up in a "strattled" position with the one leg way behind him. His foot that was in front of him barely made it in. How would the other foot that was behind him and 2 inches off the ground at the time of the push EVER had made it to come down in. That isn't even the point. The push out rule is for when it is 110% a sure thing that a reciever would have come down in bounds. Like I said before if a guy is a yard in bounds and coming straight down when a defender hits them causing them to fly out of bounds. The intent of the rule was never to be used in this situation. The Vikings got hosed, but should never have been a position to be hosed. Sarah bought tickets to the game though and it will be her first trip to Lambeau. So I'm happy for her. |

It was 3 nights after Christmas, and all through the Midwest; Vikings fans were counting their eggs (before they choked, I mean hatched), as Packers fans were reaching for another 12-pack, in hopes that the Cardinals could pull off a comeback. The Cardinals were losing and looking pretty bad, while visions of the first pick in the draft danced in their heads. When out in the desert, the Vikings realized that they can't win on real grass (or when it really matters), and the Cardinals did the impossible (4th and 24?); Packers haters can kiss my ass! |

Actually I wish it was a surprise to anyone here at page 3. We all knew we were going to lose. When you're a Viking fan you get used to knowing roughly 35 seconds into any game how it is going to end. You'll get bounced in round 2 against Philly. We'll pick 19th and use the fact that we are more under the cap than any other team to wipe the floor with you, and everyone else next year. We weren't "supposed" to do anytihng this year, most experts had us around 7-9 and the Packers running away with the division. Well it took a ref hosing, and two teams laying down for you to do it. |

Poole got his first foot in, that's for sure, no arguments there. His second foot, before he got hit out of bounds, came down on a viking defender's knee while that Viking was in bounds. So technically he did get both feet inbounds. Also, there are no limitations on the "being pushed out of bounds" thing. It doesn't matter how close you are to the sidelines, but it doesn't matter now anyway. What two teams laid down? |

I don't understand how you think the Raiders laid down. They played bad all year, this was no exception. The Bronco's on the otherhand did definitely sit some of their key players, so it is a justifiable thought that they laid down. However, that was not the Packers fault, they won by 28 points, many teams in the past have done that very thing(it's only smart), and the Packers along with many other teams have been shafted in the past when they need certain teams to win who sit their players at the end of the season. If the Raiders did indeed lay down, they did so during week 1. |

Nick Barnett should have won the defensive rookie of the year award. Terrel Suggs of the Ravens got it despite Barnett out tackling Suggs 112-27. Suggs did have 12 sacks, but did little else. Suggs also only started one game all year, while Barnett started 15 out of 16 games while leading his team in tackles. The fact that a rookie started this many games should be reason enough, but the 112 tackles should have sealed it. That's two Wisconsin professional athletes that got hosed on rookie of the year awards in their sports. |
Jeremy - 9563 Posts 12/30/2003 @ 09:13:35 PM |

Actually Kevin Williams of the Vikings should have been the Defensive R.O.Y. He started EVERY game and had 10.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a INT. Tackles are not an official NFL statistic and therefor can't (or at least shouldn't) be taken into consideration. |

I'm watching the Badger game and the announcer just said, "He's having more problems than a math book." That's quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever heard. ps Actually, THE dumbest thing I've ever heard is that tackles shouldn't be taken into consideration at all when determining who has had a better year. |
Scott - No, I did not change your screen saver settings 12/31/2003 @ 01:23:31 PM |

I was not aware that tackles were not an official stat. I'm not saying you are wrong, but I just didn't know that. But, the fact that a guy was in on that many plays, along with 3 int's and 3 pass deflections says more than anything else really. Ray Lewis has never really done much except tackle everyone and he has won defensive player of the year awards in the past. Sacks are definitely impressive, and 12 by a rookie is definitely admirable, but Suggs was only in on 15 other plays. The refs just blew 2 fumble calls in a row in the Badger game. |

Yah, that was pathetic. But Lee Evans just pulled off a sweet catch. He's going to be good in the NFL. |

Ray Lewis won because he was the leader of one of the best defenses ever. He also dominates and has the ability to single handedly take over games. Personally I think sacks are HORRIBLY overrated. But such as it is, if thats what they are looking at then K Will got screwed because he had just 1.5 less and started all year. |

For whatever reason they are NOT an official NFL stat, so how then could the NFL award someone based on them? |

---|---|---|
Um...see here's the thing. Being the leader of the best defense ever is NOT an official NFL stat either. Neither is dominating nor the ability to single handedly take over games. The awards are not based purely on official NFL stats, so why shouldn't tackles be at least considered? I'm not saying they should be the one determining factor, but you have to consider them. ps Badgers just sucked it up. |

Ah the last week of the regular season. Remember back when the Bills crushed some teams and jump out to like 3-0 and everyone was putting them in the Super Bowl? Well they've won half a game since then.Matt

Brady vs Bledsoe. Oh wait, they do that like twice a year. The Pats are going to the Super Bowl. That's right, you heard it here first! But seriously, I don't think anyone can stop New England's winning streak.
