Seahawks 7 @ Vikings 34

jeremy.jpg
Jeremy
The Vikings sure would be a dangerous team if they would stop spotting the other teams 21 points every game. The Vikings still have the advantage in that while they only have two "easy" games left to the Packers 3 they have a one game edge. They also get the tie breaker, if the Packers should fall to the Bears or the Vikes beat the Bears next week.

There is reason for hope this week Viking fans. While Seattle sports the better record (8-4) that comes largely from their 7-0 home record. For you non math majors in the crowd that means they are a more than vulnerable 1-4 on the road.
matt.jpg
Matt
The Vikings suck
jon.jpg
Jon
I'll consider it a mild success if the Vikings even split these last four games. I'm not even looking forward to watching them anymore. Eating pizza is about the only part of the game I'm enjoying these days.
sarah.jpg
Sarah
Alright, if I keep picking the Vikings, then they'll lose right? Granted, I did pick the Rams last week, so that was cool, the Vikings lost AND I was the only one who picked the Rams. Seattle is pretty bad on the road, but that means nothing when it comes to the Vikings. Granted, the same could be said of the Packers but lets not go there. All these picks are crapshoots anyway.

Bears 21 @ Packers 34

jeremy.jpg
Jeremy
This one is a must win for Green Bay but really, when is the last time the Packers lost to the Bears? This is one of those "rivalries" that I can't understand why they exist. Yeah they've been in the same division forever but doesn't there have to be that sort of "no matter how good or bad these teams are doing these games can go either way" sort of dynamic going on in order to truly hate another team?
matt.jpg
Matt
Green Bay sucks
jon.jpg
Jon
Picking Green Bay two weeks in a row? Sarah assures me that Green Bay owns Chicago. Well I'm not sure if she actually said that, but it sounds like something she might say.
sarah.jpg
Sarah
Ok, this roller coaster ride has to stop at some point. The Pack have to win the rest of their games. That's only 4 measly little games, right? You just never can tell anymore. There are two teams that the Packers CANNOT lose against, those are the 49ers and da Bears. Chalk up a win... to the PACK!

Panthers 14 @ Falcons 20

jeremy.jpg
Jeremy
Think we'll hear enough about Vick this week?
matt.jpg
Matt
Vick is overrated, and the Falcons suck
jon.jpg
Jon
Blah Blah Blah, Michael Vick blah blah blah blah.
sarah.jpg
Sarah
Ah Carolina is going down, just like they always do. With Vick back, things are going to get interesting. Too bad there are only 4 games left.

Rams 26 @ Browns 20

jeremy.jpg
Jeremy
If Cleveland hands St. Louis 20 points the Rams will win another "blowout" and no matter how close the game really was more people will pile on the Rams bandwagon.
matt.jpg
Matt
Both these teams suck
jon.jpg
Jon
Has no one paid attention? This is the year of the Ram. I'm not Chinese but I'm pretty sure there is no year of the Brown...or Orange.
sarah.jpg
Sarah
St. Louis seems to be on quite the little hot streak. Bulger did quite alright against the Vikings last Sunday, perhaps his little interception problem has quietly disappeared. This is the first MNF game Cleveland has hosted in 8 years. Big whoop. You know who wasn't on Monday night this year? Hint: The answer isn't the Packers.

This is unrelated to football, and I didn't know where to post it:

Scott Podsednik, Brewers rookie outfielder, reeled in his 3rd prestigious rookie of the year award with the This Year In Baseball top rookie, in a landslide. He also won rookie of the year in the players choice awards and the Sporting News named him top rookie as well.

Why then, did the Baseball Writers Association of America, who award the most widely-recognized NL Rookie of the Year Award each year, vote for Dontrelle Willis? Clearly Scott was the best rookie in the league this year, but does playing on a bad team make his skills less than someone on a good team? This is still one of my biggest gripes with the game I love.

You should wear a Henderson jersey, that would be cool. I've wanted to go to a game since like 4th or 5th grade. I guess I'll never go. My cousin won 4 tickets to the Bears game, he didn't invite me. He also won 2 tickets to the last game of the season. (Bronco game) I also was not invited to that game as well. I can never catch a break. My relatives have been entering me in contests for over 10 years, and I've never won once. I just can't bite the bullet and pay $300 for a ticket. I'll never get to see Favre play a real game at Lambeau. I need to win the lottery.

Wow, what a comeback. The Packers have the Bears number. Poor Bears, they've really gotten better over the season, I tip my hat off to them. Now, even though they are out of the playoffs, (well all but) I hope they still give it their all next week against the Vikings. Rex Grossman could see some playing time next week. Teddy sure was sad today when his team lost, but I gave him a belly rub and he was ok. :) McKenzie had a great interception/td run (90 yds)and then I went back to the Vikings game center at nfl.com and saw they ran back an 80 yd interception. huh, how bout that? Wild. Every play is vital from here on out, so lets see what happens.

The coolest thing about the Packer game was not even the game itself, although that rocked. Before the game, following the national anthem, there was a fly-by of 4 F-14 Tomcats. It looked as if they were going to clip the top of the stadium they were flying so low. That in itself was a thrill of a lifetime.

Oh, and Al Harris sucks.

Al Harris can be good, but today just wasn't his day. I think he is an upgrade from Tyrone Williams though. But with the way Mike McKenzie was playing today, anyone would look bad. Butterfingers for MVP? Riiiight. (And no, I'm not talking about Ahman Green or Brett Favre for that matter.) :)

Considering the Packers were like 0-5 when Favre had over 200 yards passing coming into today, and that Ahman is 3rd in the league in rushing while Farve is 16th in the league for passing with 2358 yards (338 of which have been passes to Ahman), I think that is an apt analogy. Obviously other guys score on teams that are one man shows so the fact that Ahman happened to have one "poor" game doesn't change the fact that he is the team.

I found this on a message board. Apparently the Bears game isn't a must win since any win from here on out would give the Vikes the tie breaker. Thus (assuming I'm reading this right and this dudes stats are right) if the Vikes get any win plus another win or if Packers get any loss from here on out it's all over in the Norse. Also any win puts the Vikes in the playoffs no matter what else happens.
---------------------------------
1. We beat the Bears, lose to Chiefs and Cards. We win Divisional Tiebreaker, Packers need to win out and hope we don't win.

2. We beat the Chiefs, lose to Bears and Cards. We tie Divisional Tiebreaker, Tie Conference Tiebreaker, and Win Strength of Victory Tiebreaker.

Currently, we have a 47-42 Strength of Victory win total advantage. (Teams GB has beaten have won 42 games, teams we have beaten have won 47 games). If we beat KC, that total becomes 56-42. It makes it tough for GB to catch us since 2 of their last three games are against 3 win teams.

If we beat KC, GB cannot catch our Strength of Victory unless TB, CHI, SD, and OAK win a lot of games, and Detroit, and Atlanta lose a lot of games.

Because of this, Packers need to win out and hope we don't win.

3. We lose to the Bears, and Chiefs, and beat the Cards. We tie Divisional Tiebreaker and win Conference Tiebreaker. Packers need to win out and hope we don't win.

I disagree with some of what that guy said. The strength of victory is 5th on the list of tie-breaking procedures.

1. Head to Head - Tie
2. Divisional record - If Vikes lose to Bears it will be a tie.
3. Record in Common Games - The record is even (not counting divisional games) The Packers lost to the Cards and the Chiefs (who the Vikes still play this year) and the Vikes lost to the Raiders and the Chargers, who the Packers also have yet to play.
4. Conference Record - currently in favor of the Vikes

So basically, everything the guy said works out the way he stated it, but he didn't use the common games precedure, which would most likely go in the Vikes favor if the above senarios (spelling) go as stated. (wow, that was a long run on sentence.)

Pretty much, all the Packers can hope for now is a miracle and/or a wildcard spot.

Can someone tell me why WR's get no love? I mean come on. Dante Culpepper for MVP? I hate the Vikings, but if anyone from their team should be MVP it should be Moss. Although it is way too soon to really pick an MVP. But that's not the point. Moss has caught 13 of the 27 TD passes that the Vikings QB's have thrown. When Culpepper was injured for two games , both of which the Vikings still won (nice MVP), Frerotte threw 5 of his 7 wounded duck TD passes to Moss. When he has needed to, Moss has stepped up and taken over. Just imagine if Culpepper didn't have him to just lob bombs to all game. Not a pretty thought.
On a similar note, I want to make a pitch for a former Vikings ball boy. Larry Fitzgerald deserves to win the Heisman. Oklahoma's loss severely weakens Jason White's case for winning. There are no great players on undefeated teams. Fitzgerald has caught a TD in 18 straight games, even though opposing teams have designed their defensive strategy around stopping him. He plays for a decent team, with a decent quarterback, and he puts up crazy numbers and makes highlight catches every week. He leads the nation in scoring, receiving yards, and is 7th in receptions. He averaged almost 2 TDs a game and made Pittsburgh twice the team it would have been otherwise. He accomplished all this as a sophomore, which just makes it that much more incredible. He's so good, that he might challenge the NFL early entry rule because he is obviously ready for the NFL. If he doesn't win the Heisman it will be because of people that think that WR's can't take over a game. Neither can any one other player. RB's can't do anything without the offensive line. QB's can't do anything if their team doesn't have ball, or if WR's don't feel like catching the ball. WR's can be as dominant as any other player. Fitzgerald deserves the Heisman, and if the Vikings finish off the season well Moss deserves serious consideration for MVP.

Actually, the Viking game against the Seahawks didn't really that matter much as far as the Packers are concerned. All it did is make the Packers have to get a wildcard spot, which it will probably be easier to do anyway. I think that's how it goes anyway. The Seahawks and the cowboys have 2 tough games left, and I think they need to win them both (i'm counting on the Packers winning the last 3).

Michael Vick for MVP. I think he won the World's Strongest Man competition last night, and he's nominated for 3 Oscars.

There's still plenty of time left in the season for stuff to happen. The Cowboys have some rough games and have been on the decline. The Seahawks have one home game and two road games, and have only won one game on the road this whole year. So, a wild card spot is not out of the question. The Division title is still a possibility for the Pack because anything can happen. I'm just worried about the fact that we play some really bad teams. We just don't want to win against those types of teams this season. Anyway we get into the playoffs works for me, I won't be picky.

take note of two things
1)that's an if-then statement (the "then" is implied)
2)MVP considerations

I didn't say hand him the trophy (cause we all know he might drop it). It's not a far-fetched statement. Having three more of those games would likely place him near the top of basically every major qb category (and he missed two full games).
And since the MVP race is wiiiiiiiiide open, Daunte would be as good a candidate as anyone.

As for a wide receiver winning the MVP, as far as I know it's never happened...not even for Jerry Rice, so for anyone to do it would be tough. No one likes Moss. He could catch 200 for 3000 yards and he wouldn't get it. Besides from here on out every MVP will go to Vick. Every one.(NBA included)

Two big milestones for the Packers this season:

Ahman Green is 12 yards shy of breaking the Packers' single season rushing record currently held by Jim Taylor.

Although his pace of scoring is not quite what it used to be, Brett Favre is just 5 TD passes away from moving into 2nd place all time. Fran Tarkenton is currently in second place. Favre is currently 83 behind Dan Marino, but who knows, if he sticks around as long as Marino did he could challenge it.
