Ask the Presidential Candidates
Slashdot has a thread asking people for 5 questions to ask the candidates. Some of the questions are good, others are pointless. We know who believes in evolution on the Republican side, (since that was already asked as a direct question) and who doesn't and it's a safe assumption all the Dems do as well. Not to mention the question only serves as an indication of how they might decide other issues, but not something that would likely directly effect policy.
If you could ask every candidate 5 questions what would they be?
I'm going to steal this one from /. and ask
Do you believe that there are more positives than negatives in using corn as a primary source to make ethanol? If so, explain. If not, what do you plan on doing about it? (Wish answer: No: tell those corn farmers to stick it)
Would you support or oppose the building of new nuclear power plants? Why or why not? (Wish answer: Support, contrary to popular assumption they are actually one of the cleaner and safer ways we have to generate significant amounts power. As promising as wind and solar are it's highly likely we will need 'traditional' power plants for the foreseeable future.)
Do you believe more needs to be done to protect children from video games, movies, and television not intended for them? (Wish answer: If anything we're starting to go too far. There's only so much the government can do to counter absentee parents. Video games, movies, and TV all have rating systems and I think that's all we can and should do about it. Anything else we add is just going to make it a pain for everyone else and not help absentee parents.)
Are their any specific websites you visit? Do you read blogs? Do you play any 'real' video games? (ie Solitare and Yahoo! Games isn't what we're looking for) (Wish answer: I don't know, it's just a "how in touch with 'the people' are they" type question.)
I have one left, but I don't have time to think of one right now.

I've said it before, and he'll deny it, but I think Jeremy is really a conservative. | ||

Well, like most people I float near the middle. I don't think you have to be a conservative to see corn ethanol is a waste, in every sense of the process or to recognize that "green" ways can offset traditional power, but it's an absolute pipe dream to think wind power could replace a power plant. Even Al Gore considers Nuclear Power a great option. |
