This is actually a little bit sad simply because he was considered by many of his teammates as a very hard worker. He' apparently just no good at football, and he isn't small enough to be a good story like Rudy. It's probably for the best as far as the Packers are concerned though. |

I put the over/under at amount of time until he's a Viking at 2 weeks. |

You know, the timing seems suspicious for this cut, and Ferguson is known to be a owner/breeder of pit bulls. Maybe the Packers found something out they didn't want to. Just tossing the thought out there, his official Packer profile says:
I wonder if the line about him forming Anti-Dogfight groups was a recent addition or not. |

Speaking of cuts... Favre had a great performance, as has the defense through the 2nd quarter. But as soon as they hand over the reigns to A-Rod, I knew they were asking for trouble. Sure enough, couldn't even handle a snap, and worse yet, couldn't even recover it! BOO! |

That website won't load at the moment, but I assume it's about Robert Ferguson becoming a Viking or a rumor about it. Anyway, when he was cut by Green Bay, I had basically the same thought about how he'd probably end up in Minnesota. The real question now is, "how long will it be before Ferguson becomes one of our best players and then Childress decides he has a bad attitude and cuts him?" And will that be before or after Adrian Peterson is cut? |

Except the Vikings just signed a guy that can't be at camp because he's mid legal issues in Florida. I guess bringing problems into the team is ok, just don't have any new/reoccurring problems once you get there. |

Fergie never produced much more than one or two spectacular catches. Robert will always be known as the guy we got instead of Chris Chambers or Steve Smith. The 2001 draft had to be one of the worst in Packer history. I hope he does go to the Vikings, he will make a great addition to their IR list. I imagine he will end up in Texas - back with Sherman and the rest of the GB cast offs. |

The Houston Chronicle posted a story this morning that explained the reason why receiver Robert Ferguson prefers the Vikings to the Texans. Houston coach Gary Kubiak told the paper that if Ferguson joined the Texans he would be placed on their scout team in practice this week. The Vikings evidently told Ferguson he would play immediately. "We told Robert that we'd evaluate him on the scout team in practice this week," Kubiak said in a story on the Chronicle website. "We're continuing to evaluate the receivers we have, and we've got some tough decisions to make on them. And they've been here the whole camp. We wish Robert the best of luck." That's why Ferguson and his agent, Brian Overstreet, are returning to Minnesota today to try to get a deal done with the Vikings. |

I don't know why he would go somewhere when they effectively told him "There's a good chance you'd be wasting two crucial weeks with us as you will more likely than not be cut anyway." |

Isn't the more interesting fact this; a WR that was just cut by the Packers (not exactly stacked at the position) and would be relagated to the scout team for the Texans (not exactly stacked at the position) is a hot commodity in Minnesota? |

I guess you don't end up with a lot of talent if you cut anyone with any of it. Who'd of thunk it? (Also, Koren Robinson was a Packer pretty much in the time it took for him to pack up his locker at Winter Park.) |

Receiver Robert Ferguson trotted on the field near the start of practice having signed a deal to join the Vikings. Ferguson was cut by the Packers on Friday. |

Holy falling sky Batman. For once I actually agree. I was reading some forums (go figure) and all the Minnie fans are pumped because Fergie is gonna be the "go to guy". Ferguson is an injury prone, underacheiver, who made a couple nice grabs on some Brett Favre thrown passes. I hope he is the number one guy in Minny. He can rot over there and join Sharper and Longwell as guys who will never make my Madden team. I am sure he is crushed. |

Ryan Longwell hit a 54 yard "fire drill" field goal for the Vikings last week at the end of the first half. I still think he's a pretty good kicker. |

"With six years in the league, 12 touchdowns and 1,577 yards in his career, Ferguson is by far the most accomplished Minnesota receiver. " At least they have a vetern QB to throw to all those unexperienced receivers. Oh wait, that's right, they're starting some guy that most football fans outside the NFC North have probably never heard of. He's also only rated 77 in Madden 08. |

People get pretty serious about Madden. I'm sure a decent amount of scouting goes into those rankings. It's got to be as good as any other rankings you can find. |

Also, Green Bay's running backs have, put together, 891 career rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. So snicker away whist our 1-2 punch puts up 250 yards per game against you; and QB 4 throws 5 INT's thanks to Fergy coughing up the entirety of your playbook. Edit: It's good to have football back! |

Running back is one position where fresh legs are almost better than experience (to a point of course). The secrets Fergi will be coughing up will have more to do with the medical facilites than the playbook. |

A few factoids on Madden rankings. There are 1,722 players in the game. This year Peyton Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Urlacher, Ed Reed, and Champ Bailey are your top five players. All have a 99 ranking. At the bottom are Isaiah Ekejiuba linebacker Oakland Raiders and Mark Jones of the Bucs ranked at 55. Two most "aware" players are Manning and Tom Brady at 100. Courtney Brown is the least aware at a 34. Larry Allen is the strongest and Samie Parker is the weakest. Five guys rank the players, all are former athletes and three played college football. | ||
