6 - 6779 What do you get if you play again? Sometimes it's just the luck of the draw. (Though, I don't doubt you actually know more seeing as you've been to half these places) |

7-9058 I've never been to the vast majority of the countries, but I do know a bit about Geography. It helps to first know where the country is, then you could always go by default and just click in the middle. I'll try again after lunch, see if a good meal helps me. |

I guess that's not really what I meant. What I meant was I don't like that there is a time bonus, or at least give me 5 or 10 seconds before the bonus starts going down. Or maybe I just assumed the time bonus was important but you can actually take your time to be more accurate and still advance? |

I think its time x accuracy = points somehow, but I don't read the info, I'm concentrating on where the next location could be. |

You do realize that there are a finite amount of cities they ask about- the more we do this the more re just remember where they are... |

thanks for the turd. Figured I'd be the one to state the obvious, and our original (first time) scores are proabably a better indicator of or knowledge of geography. and stuff. |

How so? What is most learning if not memorization via repetition. I could take a blank map and fill in a lot of countries that I couldn't before I started. Are baseball players only as good as they were the first time they picked up a bat? Obviously our original scores were the best indicator of our original geographical knowledge, that doesn't make our gained knowledge any less accurate. |

raw talent/knowledge versus that gained by experience? The age-old argument of nature versus nurture. Touche. |

Listen...there is a big difference between the Wizard finding the warp whistle the first time he played Super Mario 3 and you finding it after reading where it was in Nintendo Power, and that difference is that the Wizard kicks your (and Lucas') ass. I love the power glove....it's so bad. |

I figured you would eventually make this point so I didn't have to. Also, there is a pretty wide margin of "luck" involved in this game. If it just keeps asking you to locate different cities in Sri Lanka that you've never even heard of, that's money in the bank as long as you know where Sri Lanka is. But if you get cities in Russia that you don't know you're screwed. |

Yeah, getting to the late rounds is about learning, getting over the hump is about getting lucky and getting asked about the South Koreas, Isreals, and Kuwaits of the world. What finally put me over the top, which is semi-interesting given this conversation, was trying to stop just memorizing the flags/general regions, and I pulled up a map of Europe and actually just learned where those cities were. (I think you know what I mean, but I guess what I'm saying is, for example, clicking on Florida was "good enough" for Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville, but taking 4 seconds to look at a real map and learning exactly where they are is worth it.) I decided that if I could nail the cities in France, Germany, and Italy I would eventually get a run where getting close enough on everything else would be good enough. Edit: Especially focus on getting strikes on Italy, there are a lot of cities that come up often, and there's a good set of features to cue off of, which is important once the borders go away. Edit2: I realize I too am saying something that doesn't sound too profound (Gee, actually look at a map for a game based on geography, no kidding.) But if you didn't do it and rather tried to rely on just remembering where you put the pin the last time, it's creepily crystallizing to just see them sitting on a map. |
