From Miller Park In Milwaukee, Home of the Indians?
04/09/2007 7:35 pm
The Cleveland Indians apparently can't play baseball in 2 feet of snow, so the sanctuary that is Miller Park will host the Series between the Anaheim Angels and the Cleveland Indians. The Indians have been the home team in Milwaukee since 1989 when County Stadium was the "Happy Hunting Ground" in the movie Major League. Tickets are only $10 and seats are limited to the field and loge levels (levels 1 and 3).
The real question, however, is because this is a National League park, will the two teams still be allowed to use the DH? I vote no.

During last nights Twins debacle on ESPN they felt compelled to tell us this news roughly 3453450 times, between the ticker and the 30 at 30 updates. |

Yeah no kidding. That old man needs to be put out to pasture. When, if ever, was he good enough to buy? |

Milwaukee Loves Baseball Almost 20,000 people showed up for the first game of the Angels-Indians serious. That's crazy. The sausages raced, the Indians mascot slid down Bernie's slide during homeruns, some Indians' fan brought a drum, and the sound system blared "Wild Thing" when the Indians closer came on in the 9th inning. And, ironically enough, Tuesday night was supposed to be "Rick Vaughn Glasses give away night" at Jacobs Field. But seriously though, how cool is Wisconsin. 20,000 people show up for a game that isn't a team in town. They had to keep opening up different parts of the stands because they were only expecting around 8,000 or so. Go Milwaukee!!! |

It's possible that they just wanted to be able to say they were there. I mean really how often do things like that happen. Did they get to use the DH? | ||

I think so, about the DH. It's a funny point, however. Also, $10 to see a MLB game at Miller Park is a steal. |

The Indians drew more for their game in Milwaukee than the Marlins drew for their game at home. That's sad if you were a Marlin (baseball player that is. I don't think the fish mind too much.) |

I would have gone to that game for $10. Then again, I'd go see games one or two of the Twins vs Yankees for $15. For game three I would have paid more... damned responsibilities! |

I would pay ten dollars to just sit in Miller Park for three hours and watch the grass grow. It's a beauty. A marlin. Ha. |

These are comments left on an ESPN article about the Angels-Indians game on Tuesday. Here is the article. I love the Brewers. "Hey, I just have to say thanks for letting us take over your park for the Angels series, it's kinda hard to play ball in 2 feet of snow. And your fans are fantastic, actually treating us like the home team. Milwaukee fans rule." "You have to remember, Wisconsin is home to the greatest football fans in the world, some of the friendliest people in the world, Badger fans.... when neighbors run into difficulty and we can help out.... what else would you expect? Remember this is home to people that bought shares in a professional football team that get no dividends, special treatment, or season tickets.... again what else would you expect." "Not only did Milwaukee get to see two good teams, but two good teams got to see 19,000 GREAT fans. Good job Brew Crew." "This is why baseball is America's game. These days, all you're hearing is "steroids" this, and "Barry Bonds" that...it's stories like this that should be the headlines." "Indians fan/new Brewer fan here. Wow, what a great story! Thanks, Milwaukee, for making our guys feel at home. I'm going out tonight to buy a Brewers hat. They are my new NL team." "Wow! What an awesome story, I hope it gets remembered at the end of the season. Real class act on both parts. I am neither a Brewers or Indians fan, but I am a tremendous baseball fan. I long for the day when baseball was about the love of the game. Not a business run for profit. How nice would it be for baseball to be given back to the everyday people. This American League fan now has two more teams he will be rooting for this season. Great job Milwaukee!" "Tribe fan here stuck in Cleveland working. I also want to say a big "Thank you" to the people in Milwaukee. It looked like a home game and had the feeling of a home game watching it on TV. Just as a reference point, Atlanta had 18,396 and Pittsburgh had 12,468 at their HOME games last night. I know a majority of the fans at the game last night were locals and that just shows what a great major league baseball city Milwaukee is. Hopefully there are a lot more sightings of "Slider" taking the plunge down the slide over the next 2 games. To all the fans in Milwaukee, great job." "i'm a die hard indians fan and i just want to say thanks to the milwaukee fans that are going to these games and supporting the tribe. i'll definitely be pulling for the brew crew this year, and i think it would be a great idea to play milwaukee in inter-league play sometime soon. once again thanks for making our boys feel at home, go tribe!" "Being from Cleveland I have only one thing to say, hats off to Milwaukee!! I now have tons of respect for this baseball loving town. For you to get the amount of fans that showed up on such short notice was an awesome site. I never really liked NL baseball but I know for sure that I am a Brewer fan. Milwaukee and Cleveland are copies of each other and it showed last night. Much props Milwaukee. Go Tribe, Cubs SUCK" |

I just bought the Re-released edition of Major League, partially inspired by the recent series in Milwaukee. Great movie either way. |
