no BA or HR? I think at least BA. maybe OBP AND BA, because I don't think a player should be "discredited" for taking a walk rather than getting a hit, but BA is like the only stat that some people know about. That's my take. |

If the draft day could be moved to either monday or wednesday, or more like 9:00 on tuesday, that would be better for me. If this doesn't work, I'll just work hard to pre-rank my players and let the autodraft take me to the top. |

Actually, upon further review, I will be gone for the whole week of March 20th, the current draft date. A week before or a week after would be desirable if possible. |

slugging percentage would penalize teams less for injuries and having guys who get more frequent days off and such, which i think would make a more level playing field |

Overall, I think total bases would be a better option than slugging percentage. I can't really think of why at the moment, but I like the idea of overall accumulation of numbers rather than a percentage, especially for a stat like this. Of course, there are pros and cons. A player batting in the number 2 or 3 spot could have the same SLG% as someone in the number 7,8, or 9 spot, but the 2 or 3 hitter is going to have ~7 more at-bats per week a better chance at getting bases. This is probably actually an argument against my position, but Jeremy has pointed out my poor lawyering skills in the past. |

If I get 2 picks amongst HR/RBI/R, I pick RBI and R, because a homerun counts for both of them anyway. I guess. I might start to rebel against the non-traditional stat categories, and I might actually just start my own league by myself so I can impart my own rules. But I guess I can conform for the sake of multilateralism. |

So we decided we should limit innings....to what? Our scoring options: Games Played (GP) Games Started (GS) At Bats (AB) Runs (R) Hits (H) Singles (1B) Doubles (2B) Triples (3B) Home Runs (HR) Runs Batted In (RBI) Sacrifice Hits (SH) Sacrifice Flys (SF) Stolen Bases (SB) Caught Stealing (CS) Walks (BB) Intentional Walks (IBB) Hit By Pitch (HBP) Strikeouts (K) Ground Into Double Play (GIDP) Total Bases (TB) Putouts (PO) Assists (A) Errors (E) Fielding Percentage (FPCT) Batting Average (AVG) On-base Percentage (OBP) Slugging Percentage (SLG) On-base Slugging Percentage (OPS) |

"Scoring options", that's just too easy. Can't you see what the default league innings max is? I say take that and maybe bump it up a little. |

As far as I know the default is unlimited, but maybe Sarah did change that. |

I meant what is a normal public league usually set to. "A Public League pitching staff can throw a total of 1250 innings for the season. Once the sum of all innings pitched reaches the 1250 mark, pitchers no longer accumulate stats." Assuming the active roster size is the same as in a public league why not round it to an even 1300 and go with that. |
Micah - 584 Posts 02/28/2007 @ 09:12:19 AM |

I think injuries are part of the game and finding suitable replacements is as well. Total Bases would destroy slugging % in a fight. I guess I would pick RBI and R as well, but not having HR in fantasy baseball just seems wrong. I think we should have Innings Pitched as a pitching category so we can all nicely tie at 1300 at the end of the year |
Scott - 6225 Posts 02/28/2007 @ 09:24:21 AM |

the default is 1250. Go with Alex on this, 1300 is a good number. |

Someone needs to explain to me the logic behind the max number of innings pitched. There are 162 games in a season, and 9 innings in each game. That means that there are 1458 innings to be pitched by a team. Where does the 1250 or 1300 come from? I'm not sure what is behind the Yahoo! default, but those numbers don't seem to have any reasoning behind them. I say increase the max innings a bit more. |

Well you aren't going to have the pitchers for a solid 9 innings every game anyway. |

You'd have to base it off the pitcher roster size. If our # pitchers is same as yahoo default, then those numbers work out pretty well. It forces you to have some balance between relievers and starters and to not constantly swap out starters all season long like I did last year. |

One more thing about the draft time. Tuesday evenings are bad for me. If it could possibly be changed to a Monday or Wednesday that would be better. If this doesn't work, it's not a big deal. I don't want the entire thing to hinge on pleasing me. I just thought I'd point it out. |

Well yeah that and I mean we could make it 500 innings of we wanted. It's about making there be a strategy to it and maybe "picking your moments" rather then blindly starting any starting pitchers. |

Oddly enough, I did get a number of Brewer games on MLB tv last year. It's kind of hit and miss. If you logon early enough before the game starts, sometimes it forgets that it's not supposed let you watch. But then don't turn it off before the game is over because it will soon remember. |

actually, scott, you have zero saves on your staff. unless you're in some spring training fantasy league. or some "past performance" league. which really wouldn't be that exciting. Anyway, you should have drafted lee smith and dennis eckersley if you really wanted more saves. |

Remember when I took Corey Hart with my last pick and declared it the steal of the draft? That turned out to be false for a while resulting in my dropping him even, but once he started getting playing time I picked him up right away and he is currently ranked #1 overall for the last month's stats. |
