I have a couple. I mainly bought them for a floor lamp but the base of the bulb got too wide too soon to fit in the socket. Maybe they have better shaped ones though. This seems like one of those "Duh" things to me that the general public doesn't seem to understand. We should just outlaw the other kinds of bulbs or put an energy tax on them. Not only do they save energy, but they last way longer. It's a win all around. ...(taking time to actually skim article)... Walmart is sweet.

I know, we have some regular bulbs because a few fixtures needed specialized, and I think we had some but to me getting them is so much a no brainer its not even funny.

The problem is this country is too much of a "what's cheaper for me right this instant" kind of a place. $.50 is less than $3.00 so that's what they buy. First off if they used the exact same amount of electricity they'd still be better because lots of bulbs are in pain in the ass places. I doubt Sarah and I ever have to change the bulb in our pantry.

I don't know if they should be outlawed, but there could be incentives to phase the old kind out. I mean this isn't buying a car that gets 26mpg over one that gets 26.0001mpg this is a big measurable difference. Name one investment that will make you like an 800% return in one year.

Yes, and the person who wrote that article is realistic about that, that doesn't mean there arent a majority of places where these could be used.

Yeah that sucks cause almost all the lights in my apartment are on a dimmer. A lot of energy companies refunded the cost of switching your house to those, but that was a long time ago. Even still, you can still get pretty good rebates on them a lot of the time. And we all know how awesome rebates are....and Wal-Mart.
