I've just decided something. If Roger Clemens wins the NL Cy Young this year, it will be the biggest shame since Miguel Tejada won the AL MVP over A-Rod. Roger Clemens had a good year. But 3 pitchers, Jason Schmidt, Randy Johnson, and Ben Sheets, all had better years than Roger Clemens. tossing wins aside for arugments sake, the only category that Clemens has over Ben Sheets is Opponents BA. Sheets, Johnson, and Schmidt have higher strikeouts, fewer walks, and Johnson and sheets have lower era's. Randy Johnson should win this award with a unanimous vote. Also, I guess Santana should win the AL Cy Young, but just so everyone in the world (or this site) realizes it, Ben Sheets of the Brewers was every bit as good as Santana, and if the Brewers ever acheive a winning record, Sheets will win the Cy Young award.

While I agree that Sheets had a great year, saying he was as good as Santana is pushing it a bit. While their ERA, WHIP, and strikeout numbers are practically even, Santana holds a good sized advantage in hits allowed and, opponent batting average/slugging/OPS. (They are almost even in opponent OBP due to the fact that Santana walked more batters than Sheets.)

But what puts Santana over the top against Sheets (and even Randy Johnson, who stacks up stronger against Santana than Sheets) is the fact that Johan did what he did in the American League. Out of the top 10 leaders in ERA, Santana (#3) is the only AL pitcher on the list. Curt Schilling is the next best AL pitcher on the list at #12, over half a run worse than Santana. If Santana got to face a pitcher instead of a DH 2-3 times a game, his stats might be even better.

Plus, if you discount Santana's bad start when he was coming off surgery and look at his second half stats (13-0, 1.18 ERA, .154 Opponent Batting Avg.) his dominance is even more impressive.

Santana was the best pitcher in baseball this year, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

I'm not in the least bit trying to discredit Santana at all, he was awesome. I'm just bitter that Sheets' name won't even come up in talks of best NL pitchers.

Just for discussion purposes....comparing 1st half and 2nd half numbers of Sheets and Santana....

Sheets 1st half
era....2.26
k's....133
k/bb...7.00
whip...0.89
OBA...0.200
OBP...0.233
Slg...0.337

Santana 1st half
era....3.78
k's....136
k/bb...4.39
whip...1.07
OBA...0.221
OBP...0.275
Slg...0.384

Sheets 2nd half
era....3.17
k's....131
k/bb...10.08
whip...1.08
OBA...0.252
OBP...0.274
Slg...0.430

Santana 2nd half
era....1.21
k's....129
k/bb...5.61
whip...0.75
OBA...0.154
OBP...0.214
Slg...0.228

Sheets' first half was almost equally impressive as Santana's 2nd half. Again, I hope Santana wins the Cy Young, I'm just pissed that people think that Clemens actually might win the NL award this year, when a National league pitcher who is all but equal (almost) to the AL Winner won't even get mentioned.

here's my point where did Carl Pavano come from? and Sheets leads Roy Oswalt in every category but wins. Seriously, why do you have to be on a good ball team to be considered a good player? Erg

Is Trump going to make one right firing in this entire season? Even the times he fired the right people, like Stacy, he did it for the wrong reasons.

Does it really matter which woman he fires? None of them have the slightest chance to win anyway.

Pamela had the best shot, you know that Maria either goes far or gets canned ASAP because they always have her on camera (and they know who the final two are when they edit, and looking back Kwame got way more than his share of camera time.) Little Staci needs to be sent home.

I actually picked Maria to win it all during the first show, but she's looked a little weak lately. How come we didn't get to see Pamela have her little talk with Maria about her TV presence during the task? Or did I miss that while flipping channels? Little Staci is way annoying.
