The Jell-O Pudding Pop... never has such a tasty treat caused such an unexplainable mystery. Back in the early 1990s Jell-O Pudding Pops disappeared from the marketplace, denying future generations of children the pleasure of tasting these delicious frozen treats and causing irreparable harm to the millions of children (like me) who had experienced frozen pudding bliss, only to have it taken away. Now, there have been many food items that have come and gone over the course of the years and, for the most part, nobody cared. Everybody, however, loved pudding pops and as of yet, nobody has been able to solve the mystery of the disappearing Jell-O Pudding Pops.
Well, everybody can now relax and stop harassing Bill Cosby. Our decade long nightmare is over. We may never know where they've been all these years, but Jell-O Pudding Pops are back on the market...sort of. Kraft Foods has licensed the Jell-O name to the Good Humor - Breyers Ice Cream Company, who has started making Pudding Pops under their Popsicle brand division.
I said they are back...sort of, because the new Pudding Pops seem to be slightly different from the ones we all used to enjoy. As you can see in the picture to your right, appearence wise, the Pudding Pops are not the same as they were in the past. It looks like they changed the old Pudding Pop shape to conform to the standard Fudgsicle/Creamsicle/Popsicle brand shape. However, the folks over at hammradio.com say that, while the new Pops aren't exactly the same, they still taste pretty good.
Unfortunately the new Pudding Pops have yet to make their way to a store near the Nutcan HQ, so I cannot yet comment on the look or taste of them first hand. According to the locator on the Good Humor website, the closest place they are currently sold is in Janesville, WI - almost 200 miles away. Since the re-release of these frozen treats seems to be a recent development, I hope that they will be coming here soon. At that time I will be back to give you my verdict on how well the new Jell-O Pudding Pops stack up to the old.

Pudding pops were on sale at Mega 10 boxes for $10. Apparently there is a new flavor, carmel. |

1. I like Pudding Pops as much as the next guy, but 10 boxes!! That's a bit ridiculous. 2. I don't think I approve of carmel Pudding Pops. 3. Regardless, I think I'll be heading over to Mega sometime soon. |

Well obviously no one in their right mind would get 10 boxes. I wasn't aware of the "new" kinds. I just grabbed boxes (and I noticed they looked different but didn't invest the .00001 seconds of reading the box. As it turns out all 3 boxes we got are the "new" double chocolate/carmel swirl kind. The Carmel swirl sucks and I'm less than thrilled about having 3 boxes of them. |

I understand the desire for good ol fashioned stuff like the pudding pop- but really... if I were THAT into having one, I'd freeze the pudding around a popsicle stick and eat it up. Because thats basically what it is, right? |

Bought some pudding pops today. Not for the same reason as most of our female readers but because I was walking down the frozen treats aisle, they beckoned and I couldn't say no. Just not the same as the ones in our days of youth though. |
